“Barking dog”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

Wish I had noticed that this hotel allows pets. I asked for a room in a quiet area since my husband is a light sleeper. It turns out they put us in a room directly across from a barking dog. We stayed here 2 nights and each day I heard a dog barking but the second day was the worse - We had been out most of the day and came back about 4:30 and were tired since it was a very hot day - about 5:30 the dog started barking - he would stop for maybe 5 minutes and then start again. I called the front desk but they said the people in the room were not answering and there was nothing they could do. This kept up (constantly) till after 9. I'm not sure why someone would bring their dog with them and then leave the dog in the room but I find it very inconsiderate and irresponsible.

The breakfast was lacking in my opinion - there were 2 types of generic cereal along with toast, bagels and packaged waffles to put in the toaster. No english muffins and no fresh danish - they were prepackaged. My husband said the coffee was not bad. There were no hot items such as fresh cooked waffles or eggs or sausage.

The room itself was average although the bath had hot water. But the hotel only provides shampoo, soap and a shower cap - no conditioner and no body lotion.

Would I stay here again? No - I want someplace to stay where I can relax and not have to worry about a dog barking when paying for a room. This was definitely not the place for a relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room that will NOT be close to a room with a dog.

After reading a few of the reviews , we decided to take a chance on the Mainstay Suites. We had no complaints and everthing in room 224 was in working order. We enjoyed the large suite with a separate bedroom. We had room cleaning service every day and all was left in sparkling order. Yes there were cigarette burn marks resulting in holes in the bedspread ,obviously from being previously used in a smoking room. That did not interfere with a good night' s sleep . In addition the bed spread was clean.
Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit ,cold cereal, various packaged pastries comprising a continental style , adequate, but not elaborate.
All in all we were pleased, especially with the price of the room. It was clean, comfortable, and aside from needing a cosmetic update, entirely suitable. We have stayed here 3 out of 4 years and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is not looking for eye popping luxury.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms are non smoking

This hotel was in a good location and a good price but the rooms are worn. Our air conditioner unit was so noisy on low speed that it was annoying. The bathroom faucet and shower needed updating. The breakfast selection was not very good. We got there 40 minutes before closing and there was no milk, out of one of the 2 cereals, no napkins and one coffee carafe was empty. Pool looked very nice.

This hotels strong point was the reception clerks. They were very friendly. But the place was old and needs updates. The breakfast was very weak and not generous in selection or quality. The pool was nice but the spa has been out of order foreverf - blocked off, empty and marked with a construction yellow tape. Located as part of the Comfort Inn - which I usuyally trust. The room did not even have a hair dryer - pretty much available at every hotel I have stayed in during my last 10 years of travel.

Room Tip: I am not sure there isw a good room here.

I'm tardy in writing this review as I have been staying here for the past four years. Always a good experience. The staff is always very friendly and looking out for your every need. The rooms aren't super fancy, but they are mostly clean and comfortable. The windows open which I love especially during the spring and fall.
Full sized fridge with freezer is awesome. I travel with my dogs and they are always welcomed (although with a $20 per night/per dog fee which is a little steep if you are staying any length of time).
The setting is off the main Buckeystown Pike, and in sort of a business park area, so there are lots of places to walk the dogs.

We stayed at the Frederick Mainstay Suites after a wedding shower event in Mt. Airy. The main decisions to stay here included: the price (got AAA discount), indoor pool (for our 7 year-old), free breakfast, and location. We were not disappointed and had a relatively easy check-in/check-out with friendly clerks. The pool was OK; however, the room temperature was a little cool. The hot tub was not working, with components removed, and was roped off. The continental breakfast was OK, but do not expect to see the Belgian waffle maker, which is shown in the web page's photo section as there was a toaster there instead. The breakfast was satisfactory but did not include any hot items (eggs, sausage, etc.). The room worked out well and the kid slept on the sofabed without any problems. The location is not adjacent to any restaurants or stores, but they are a short drive away. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 110, which was almost directly across from the indoor pool (hours 8 am - 9 pm).

Our room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again specially if it were for longer then a few days. We had a full kitchen with cooking utensils that would make a longer stay very efficient. The one negative was as that the lighting on the exterior of the building got into the room at night even with the drapes pulled. On the opposite side of that was the lighting getting into the hotel from the main road was very poor and hard to see the access roads.
