The society resides in a very interesting building with some nice artifacts inside and a substantial genealogy library downstairs. Highly recommend the Saturday walking tours. They give a wonderful understanding of the historic city of Frederick and how it came to be and evolved over the past 270 years.

Gorgeous antiques, portraits of local dignitaries, several beautiful grandfather clocks, a variety of rooms on two floors furnished in various period styles, and a small gift shop make this elegant building a worthwhile visit. Some fascinations on local history, including African-Americans, Early National leaders, women, and much more. The Christmas themed was well done.

My wife and I toured this museum on a recent trip. The exhibits were well done and gave a good view of historical happenings in and around Frederick, Maryland. The clock collection is especially good. The staff was very helpful. We are glad we stopped.

Definitively must do. Take the very inexpensive and well done tour. Nothing like a knowledgeable person to show you the town

Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, MD, is one of the oldest Lutheran communities East of the Mississippi River. A stop by its twin spires and old nave is quite a step back in history. One will not only enjoy its history as a Lutheran church, but learn how the church served during the American Civil War.
