“Great food, Great sevice, A little on the noisy side”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2010

Food and service was outstanding ! But on a Friday night the crowd of singles trying to impress each other with hip dress and loud conversation is a bit overwhelming (especially when rude bar patrons who are trying to convince their dates that the Federal Government could not possibly run without themselves, literally stick their rear ends in your face while you are eating) . Try to sit away from the bar if you can. I would still go there again it was still worth the noise and obnoxious yuppies.

“Nice but Small”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2010

Nice upscale place in Frederick. I had the veal cutlets and they were a bit on the greasy side. My friend had the crab cake and it was full of crab. Nice wine list. I would go there again but I would try something different.

“Great food/hip atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2010

When you're seated at the Tasting Room (TR), you quickly realize it's got a different feel than any other restaurant in downtown Frederick (have yet to eat at Volt). It's more upscale, from a server stanpoint to the surroundings. It's an extremely modern decor, servers in all black and huge windows surround the corner location (great for people watching!). With that said, when the bread came out and TR was enscribed in the butter, I definitely get where other reviews feel this place is quite snooty. If I ate here every week, the snootieness would get to me, but every once in awhile makes you feel like you're at an important place.

I ordered the crabcakes....I'm new to MD, but thusfar, they're the best crabcakes I've ever eaten. It was served with scalloped potatoes, which were also amazing! The best meal I've had since moving to Frederick. The only downside is the price. $35 for two small crabcakes and potatoes is about as steep as it gets. Like many other establishments, you're paying for atmosphere, quality, etc...

All in all, TR was excellent. I'll definitely visit the restaurant again on special occasions and whatnot due to their high prices. Other than that, I could see myself popping in for a drink/appetizer. Their bar area, while small, seems like a popular 'happy hour' spot.

Great fine, great food, great service: Try the Lobster Chowder - heavenly, and the bread pudding as desert is also especially delecious.

“One of the few excellent restaurants in Downtown Frederick, Md”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2010

Just ate there last Friday night. Exceptional meals for all 4 of us. Osso Bucco was outstanding along with the most tender and delicious Filet Mignon. The au grautin potatoes were excellent. Nice selection of wines. Dead Letter Office Shiraz absolutely amazing!!! Very attentive waiter and excellent service. If you are looking for excellent food and know it when you taste it this is the place you want to eat at. Not overrated, not for unseasoned chain type restaurant eaters dining on a budget!!
