My partner and I dined once again at The Tasting Room in downtown Frederick, MD on what is known as a First Saturday. The streets were filled with happy people, walking with their children and dogs (most of the shops are pet friendly). Our table was ready for us to occupy, and our cheerful waiter brought us cold water and delicious bread and butter right away. Although the menu had lots of interesting choices, we opted for crispy calamari (my favorite!) to start, along with salads and a green lentil soup (my partner, who is French and knows good food, said this was one of the best soups he had ever tasted). We later found out that the soup had just appeared for the first time on the menu; please make it a standard item! He then enjoyed a filet mignon and blueberry sorbet, which was frosty and tasted like frozen berries. Although The Tasting room is noisy, which does detract from the pleasure of dining, the food is consistently good, and we will continue to return.
