“The Family's Care”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

One always hears that, for a restaurant to be a success, the owner should be almost always on site. This is more than true of Gladchuk Bros. in Frederick, Md. just off Route 15. At least one brother is always on duty as host or chef or business manager. This pays off in one of the finest establishments in the area, even extending to the Baltimore and Washington market. Very few glitches ever appear. The service is good, the food exraordinary. I'd be hard pressed to select a favorite, though the German Plate is hearty and flavorful and even the lowly Meatloaf certainly surpasses expections. Seasonal favorites also appear on the menu. There is even great care in presentation. The desserts, baked right on site, are to die for-very hard to resist. The cakes,in particular, are magnificent to eye and stomach! If I dared a complaint, it would be that Gladchuk's could use more space; it can be a bit crowded at some hours.

“NEVER DISAPPOINTING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

Last week we drove to Frederick, Maryland for a predictably good meal at Gladchuk Brothers. It was about an hours drive but always worth it. We go here when we want great home cooking in a comfortable atmosphere. John, one of the owners is one of the best aspects. He always greets people as if they are family or good friends. The menu has some old favorites but also has specials which are delicious as well. The homemade desserts are the most difficult aspect as one can choose only one dessert (and one to take home perhaps?). The Beef Stroganoff, Baked Chicken, fresh medley of steamed vegetables and awesome homemade split pea and ham soup were sensational. Pumpkin pie and coconut cake rounded off the meal. All of the wait staff from the servers down to the young man who fills the glasses are professional and friendly. Perfect for a special occasion or just to have the meal of a lifetime!!!! Worth the drive! Treat yourself!

“Excellent & Romantic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

Applejack chicken, shrimp scampi, three milk sponge cake, and apple strudel were absolutely excellent. The service was nothing less than excellent. The restaurant was very busy and reservations were handled expeditiously. Great for a romantic setting at any time. Reservations highly recommended. Hours of the restaurant are limited and they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Repeated visits are definitely on the horizon.

“Old World Ambiance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

First of all , the staff is wonderful. Friendly, cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable, patient and polite. The decor is old world and charming, a little of old Germany. The food is great. Have been several times and never had a disappointing meal. Yes, there are sauces. The sauces are well made and go with the style of food. The portions are ample. For those wanting a ' super size' meal there are plenty of fast food places; this is a refined dining experience. The parking lot is generous, no problem finding a spot. Look forward to eating here whenever we are in town.

“FOOD IS GREAT !!! EXACTLY THE WAY YOU WANT IT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

The Host will greet you politely and take you to a spotless, white cloth covered table with cloth napkins. If there is any problem with your lunch or dinner the staff will solve the problem with a gracious and sincere smile. They are all most accommodating and eager to please your every wish. Just speak up nicely to most easily get what you want. Seafood is exceptionally fresh, and the crab cakes are beautifully prepared, some of Maryland's finest. You have a choice of two side dishes, and I always get mixed veg’s for one, and seasonal fruit salad for the second side. Many people find the Duchess twice baked potatoes to be the best side dish. The bar offers drinks that are carefully made and quickly presented. I have always enjoyed their many soups and salad presentations, which taste great and are a treat for the eyes. A basket of fresh hot breads complements every table. Smoking hot flavorful coffee and many “baked every day” pies and cakes fill the desert menu. Some people are “nuts” about their butterscotch chiffon pie, but I like the fruit pies, especially peach or apple heated, and with ice cream al la mode. Boing, there goes the diet!
