“Upscale but Relaxed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

Family Meal offers a menu developed by one of the region's top chefs in a comfortable, casual environment. The ambiance is tasteful and elegant but in a way that you feel comfortable showing up in jeans and perhaps even flip flops. The cuisine while down home and simple with items such as fried chicken and biscuits is so exceptional you will enjoy surprising out of town guests with the rich and savory interpretations of these home style classics. Even just relaxing and enjoying a game at the bar you might lose track of the game do to the almost transcendental experience of their duck fat fries and delicious house sauces. The prices are a little bit above your average franchise family restaurant the food leaves me willing to pay much more.

“Great Lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

I didn't try anything fancy at this restaurant, but the chicken sandwich with onions and some sort of cheese was really good. Even later when my husband ate the leftover half, he loved it. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is a very modern, slick interior. I highly recommend this place for lunch!

“Road Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013 via mobile

We found this restaurant through a NY Times article. It is a little off the main route and the article said it was a local favorite. It is in an old car dealership building.
We had no difficulty finding it. We were seated almost immediately and the waitress was prompt. The NYT article said the Pot Pie Fritter appetizer was really - they were right! Little balls that were deep fried on the outside and filled with pot pie on the inside. Yum!
They serve their own brand of soda - I had the root beer and it was very good.
I had the Mac & cheese appetizer and my wife had a salad (on trips we try to keep our meals small since we are sitting all day). Both were very good.
We will strongly consider going back on our next trip to this area.

“Worth the Trip!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Three of us enjoyed our sandwiches (waygu pastrami, prime rib steak and cheese) and the appetizers (tuna tartar, chicken pot pie bites) and duck fat french fries. It was a nice and interesting selection on the menu and we'd order everything again. However, I would have likes more chicken pot pie bites in the order, 5 little bites were just not enough!

“so-so food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

The fried chicken was nothing to write home about and having been on a quest for several years since they closed all of the "chicken in the rough" restaurants, I was hoping for better. The ambience is terrible. This is really a "family" place -- noisy, messy and tables are crowded too close together. Great for the after kid's games crowd, I guess. Would not go back.
