“Don't be afraid of the fancy menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

The food here was delicious and comforting. The menu lists everything with an unusual ingredient that may scare some diners off, but the food was solidly great. At our table we had the filet mignon, the scallops, vegetable lasagna and a French Dip as well as several appetizers. Everything was fantastic, fresh and well portioned. The ambience alongside the creek or in the restaurant was wonderful. I would highly recommend for a special date, group of friends, or a family get together.

“Check out their flights of wine and spirits”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014

My husband and I chose The Wine Kitchen for his birthday dinner and had a wonderful evening. The restaurant is located on the man-made canal in Frederick so if you do sit outside you can enjoy people-watching and the water. We sat inside and started at the bar where we had a flight of wine. They have a great wine selection (obvious, hence their name) and quite a comprehensive selection of flights, for wine and spirits, plus a full bar if you would like a mixed cocktail. The bar area is cozy with bar seats (purse hooks for the ladies...those little things count!) and a few small tables. We then moved to a table by the window for dinner. Our server Oliver was fantastic - personable and professional and he shared recommendations with us. We enjoyed the olives, fried green tomatoes (quite delicious), beet salad (yum), veal (my husband really enjoyed it), perfectly seared scallops and the banana parfait dessert. It really was an excellent meal and service. There was one tiny hiccup with the reservation but the hostess very graciously rectified it quickly and that is really all that one can ask. Also check out their happy hour-it looked pretty good. Go and enjoy!

“Good food, slow kitchen customer service-meh...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2014 via mobile

This was our second time visiting this place. This time we thought we did things right by making a reservation (last time we had to eat in the bar area, or wait 2 hours). When we arrived, it wasn't very crowded, and there were lots of open tables, but we were seated very very close to another couple. Seriously, the tables are so close that you might as well get to know the people next to you. We asked if we could be moved to one of the many open tables and we were told "no, we won't be able to relocate you." Really? So, we sat there on our date night with my husbands thigh almost touching another man's thigh, and listening to someone else's conversation. The empty tables that we had asked to be moved to, remained empty for 45 minutes to an hour. That being said, the food is delicious, the kitchen is very slow, but the food is worth the wait. The wine list is fantastic, and you can try them in flights of 3. We got the Summer Sippin' Flight and all 3 were wonderful. The beer list is not impressive, especially if you are a craft beer fan. Oh, and you have to ask for bread for your table, but they do have homemade focaccia bread. Good food, good wine, but they could use some help with customer service.

“Good Attention to detail with a pleasant setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

This was a very pleasant afternoon for a leisure lunch under the trees beside Carroll Creek. Service was warm and attentive, in spite of some sort of big party inside. Food was well prepared without being overstated on the menu. Good selection of wines. Certainly worth a repeat visit. Central of downtown Frederick with good parking facilities nearby.

“I would give it zero stars if I could!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

We ordered an appetizer for ten bucks. It was pork rinds and guacamole. Exactly 2 tablespoons of guacamole. When we asked for more the waitress told us it would be 2 dollars more. My Peruvian chicken was not cooked through. I still don't know how they could undercook a tiny piece of meat. And over cook everything else. BEWARE: they allow dogs! I think the constantly barking dog sitting exactly 10 inches from my feet, and his oblivious owner enjoyed the place but it was a huge waste of time and money for my husband and I.
