“Hospitality - NOT!”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

Service from our waitress "Alex" was cold and uninviting. Numerous attempts to warm things up with conversation were rebuffed. No need to feel welcomed I guess when it's a party of seven and the tip is included.
Food well prepared from local suppliers but few choices.
Atmosphere generic.
MANY better choices in Frederick. Our group will not be back.

“Good food, but it's always changing.”
Reviewed October 23, 2011

Acacia is a great little restaurant and I've been going for about 2 years. The only problem is they are constantly changing the menu and ingredients of the primary menu items. They generally are all good, but on occasion they changes are a downgrade.

That said, the acacia burger (or whatever the name is currently) is one of the best high end burgers I've had in a long time. I generally don't like alot of add-ons to my burgers, but they things that come on the burger make it a great one.

“Interesting ingredient combinations, decent and affordable wines”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

Sliced beef brisket served on a bed of (very tasty) cheese grits and topped with a few sauteed shrimp and cauliflower fritters. Papardelle woodsboro was an outstanding pasta dish made with ham, parmesan and eggs. Don't fear, many less cholesterol-laden options available, including vegetarian ones: our menu featured a very good spaghetti squash dish for example.
Note that the restaurant will cheerfully (and legally) re-cork and bag a bottle of wine, so one needn't feel constrained to finish a pricey bottle--although they had many decent reasonably priced options.
Amiable but efficient service. Overall atmosphere relaxed and pleasant.

“Less excitement than most reviews promise”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Friday evening 8pm arrival without reservations; promptly seated; orders for drinks followed soon thereafter but a considerable lag time before drinks arrived. Three diners; one starter and three entrees. Thirty-five minutes for starter to arrive; mains were delivered to the table fifty-five minutes after ordering. The pasta main, the winner, fish in second place, and the meat entree poor.

“Great food, most romantic atmosphere in Frederick”
Reviewed August 27, 2011

I've been to Acacia many times, and the decor and beauty of the back courtyard (seen through the large windows) makes it the most pleasant and romantic restaurant in Frederick. I often take my wife there on Valentine's Day, when they have a wonderful special menu. The food is outstanding, all locally farmed and grown. The lunch specials are the best deal in town, especially for the superb quality. I'm writing this because I want Acacia to be higher in the rankings!
