Description: VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques. VOLT's relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color palette that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.

“Exactly what you expect!”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

I had been wanting to go to Volt for awhile...I will admit it, I was sucked in by "Top Chef".... for a surprise 40th birthday party my friends gathered and we had a wonderful experience. The staff is incredibly accommodating and helpful. The service is amazing. But most of all the food was terrific. Every thing we had was simply amazing, flavorful and exciting. While it was not NEARLY as prices as we had expected, it is still pricy. So I wouldn't go there 2-3 times a week on 'lark'...but don't be intimidated by it's stature in the food world either...go, its worth it! We also got a lovely little "parting gift" of a coffee cake as we left...nice touch I thought. Whether you live here or are visiting the area...make a reservation and indulge!

“Our first time”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Dining here is quite an experience. The service and attention to detail is amazing. You have lots of choices and what type of meal you want, so think about that also. Since my wife is a big fan of the chef, she knew everything about the place already, well almost.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious and the manner that it was served and described was enjoyable. Each course was certainly spaced out [ perhaps too much]. We had 9:15 reservations and were still sitting at our table eating at 10:45, not use to quite so long of a meal but certainly overall very enjoyable.

“Amazing Resto!!”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

This was not even a stop on out driving trip but when we were near Frederick we decided to call and see if we could get in. They said we could try and find space OR maybe sit outside. We chose to sit outside and what a great call. We have posted pics of our meal on Twitter and Instagram so if anyone wants to see our amazing gastro pics just let me know. Mind you I must tell you that we take our kids(10 and 6) everywhere and they are quite adventurous eaters...sweetbreads, escargots, pig hearts...etc...

“Consistently lovely meals”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We have had the opportunity to dine here three times in the past 18 months, and have found the service and meals to be consistently good. The last time we were there, about three weeks ago, we chose from the a la carte selections, rather than the fixed course meal. The food is creative and delicious, but better suited to me as a vegetarian to just pick the items I wanted (even though they do offer a fixed-course vegetarian option, it is just more food than I care to eat for an evening meal.) The wine suggestions and selection are good, and we have enjoyed trying some of their recommendations. The cocktail menu in the bar is quite limited, but they are well-prepared in the current artisan style of an upscale cocktail lounge. Prices are typical for this type of cuisine, which borders on occasion with molecular gastronomy, but not in an overly fussy or silly way. Flavors are fresh and inventive combinations make the evening interesting.

“Excellent food in a charming town”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Volt is located in a beautiful older building with modern décor inside. The restaurant boasts a nice sized bar, patio (no reservations but full menu), and lounge in addition to its restaurant. Our experience with the service staff was up and down. The hostess seemed confused when we asked to be placed on a wait list for a table. We interacted with two bartenders; one of which was very warm and pleasant, the other was somewhat less so. The food and drinks were outstanding. Chef Voltaggio's menu was filled with great selections and we were not disappointed when the food arrived. The cocktails represented some innovation, a well cultivated bar, and the wines by the glass (we did not purchase a bottle this visit) were excellent. Had we secured a table, we would likely have selected the chef's tasting menu, 5 courses for under $100 with an optional beverage pairing for $65 (I believe). Hopefully next time we can try it. I would certainly return and recommend Volt for a visit to the bar for a light dinner or for a special occasion for the tasting menu.
