Best Western Desert Villa Inn

It seemed that the man working the front desk had just been hired off the street yesterday. He obviously did not have any customer service or hospitality training. He was rude, but I don't think it was intentional. He just had no idea how to interact with a customer. I blame the management for poor hiring, poor supervision, and poor training.

The room was fine. Nothing fancy, but no problems. The housekeeping staff did a good job each day.

The motel shares a lot with a low-end trailer park, which is a little concerning. The neighborhood, as a whole, isn't the greatest, but it's Barstow, what can you expect?

All things considered, I would probably stay there again the next time I'm in town. It's not horrible and is certainly better than most of the rat hole motels in the area.

The hotel advertised Pool & Spa. We were looking forward to this, at the end of a couple of busy, and hot, days. The spa was no longer; we were told it would take too much money to fix it. The pool was outdoors, not heated, no lights at night, but the No. 1 complaint here -- IT WAS DIRTY!

I had to ask for extra towels and shampoo. We had one little bottle of shampoo for four women for two days. Yes, I know I should bring my own shampoo, but I've gotten spoiled saying at hotels that supply the necessities.

A pretty standard budget hotel, located several blocks away from a wide variety of restaurants. The rooms were clean, but a bit worn; and the breakfast station was continually restocked. They had cereal, waffles, bread, fruit, juice and coffee; with adequate seating for the size of the property. It's a fair price for the type of room you get, but of course it's not anything fancy. The parking spaces were extra small, and with large vehicles parked in them, it was hard to get around them with luggage. The free wifi had a strong signal and was easy to access in the guest room. The one bad point is that it's located right across from the train tracks, and if you are a light sleeper that may keep you up, as it's a busy rail route. To remedy this, arrive early and request a room in the far back of the first building, as far from the tracks as possible. All in al, I'd stay there again when pasing through Barstow.

Stayed for one night after leaving Las Vegas. Very good spot for breaking the journey to the coast. The room and staff kept up the good standards that we have found of Best Western. A nice room, very clean with fridge and microwave. The only downside was the heat - and the air-conditioning unit in the room was very noisy.

We had stayed in other Best Westerns and had not been pleased. After reading the Trip Advisor's reviews, we decided to risk it. We were not disappointed. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. Wish our next night's stay at another Best Western could have been as good..

Easy to find, right next to the I-40 freeway and the first exit on I-40 as you leave I-15. Free breakfast of waffles, toast, juice, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. Free WiFi and free parking, as well. Ask for the exercise room key if you want to use the treadmill, elliptical, or the multi-function machine. Microwave, mini-fridge, and soft queen beds made our stay pleasant. I was worried about the train tracks across the street, but I did not hear any trains at night. Saw the pool, but didn't have time to use it.

This motel is very comfortable, offers great bedding and facilities, and is convenient. The only thing that detracts from the stay is that trains go by at all hours. However, the sound of their passage is comforting to me. But the rooms are not totally silent.
