Wife wanted to eat there
and the service was terrible!
Steak was under cooked.
Mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box of instant mashed potatoes.
Veggies tasted like they were out of a can not fresh.
Salad was wilted and warm not chilled
Tomatoes were soggy cheese was dried out.
WORST ANNIVERSARY DINNER EVER!
IT GAVE THE WIFE DIARRHEA BEFORE WE EVEN MADE IT HOME!
I SHOULD HAVE NOT EVEN PAID FOR THAT CRAPPY FOOD.
I WOULD NOT LET MY DOG EAT THERE!

This was recommended to us by our hotel (California Inn) and it did not disappoint. Although a 10 min drive out from the main part of Barstow it is well worth it. Wish we had come early for a beer in the bar as it has some nice memorabilia and photos on the walls. The food was very good, great steaks and ribs, and big serfves that include salkdas or a great chowder, vegetables and choice of potatoes, service was good and we would recommend if in the area and was probably the best restaurant we went to during our stay

Barstow doesn’t appear to have many decent restaurants so we chose this one based on reviews and website. Nice ambiance but very chewy top sirloin, dry prime rib, boring zucchini veg and not much customer service other than cheerful wait staff. Will stick to reliable fast food in future.

My wife and I stopped at Idle Spurs passing through Barstow, and were immediately charmed by the time capsule atmosphere and friendly service. Unfortunately, we both became violently ill after our meal. I searched "food poisoning" and "Barstow" and found several hits. I believe we may have eaten vegetables or romaine lettuce contaminated with the E. Coli bacteria. My wife called to discuss this and (naturally) the restaurant assured us there is no way Idle Spurs was the source, Yet I found a testimonial of a similar experience right here on trip advisor. I am saddened to write this, as the place has charm for miles. Maybe just go for a drink at the bar, take in the vibe, and skip a meal--you have been warned!!!

We heard this was the best place to get a steak. We saved the best for last! Our meal at this family owned restaurant did not disappoint. We split a prime rib. Just right for us. Our waitress was so friendly and made us laugh, more than a few tines. We felt like we were visiting a good friend's home. Next time we pass thriugh Barstow, we won't miss another visit.
