Parador de Aiguablava

We spent 4 nights at this Parador and could easily have stayed longer! Our room was very nice, the meals in the restaurant were fantastic, the pool was nice and the proximity to the beach was very convenient.

While not inexpensive, this was certainly worth the cost. We'd definitely stay there again.

While the Parador building is a bit bland, the location is just spectacular. Views of Mediterranean on both sides, walk down to a pretty little beach on inlet between rocky perimeter. Lovely patio overlooking the sea just off the bar area. Breakfast was outstanding - fresh food, great variety, something for everyone. Aiguablava and Begur, and surrounding area, was our favorite part of 16 day trip across France and Spain. Costa Brava is so beautiful.

We ended up in a not so great room in the Annex - down a flight of steps and no elevator to get there. Limited coverage at front desk and no bell staff left us dragging our own bags down stairs to load in car. Room was nice size, good for 3 people in the room, great bathroom, and very clean. But did not have balcony or view as most of the rooms in the Parador have. We knew this on the room going in - due to late booking was all that was left in superior room size. In the end we were very happy with our stay here, and would stay again for sure. PS. Did check prices at another nearby hotel with similar amenities, and rates at Parador were significanlty better.

If you go to the beach below the Parador, look for the boat rental on right hand side over by the little pier. David (da-veed) runs it. Well worth the rental to drive your own little boat down the coast, and easiest thing to drive - even for those who've never driven a boat before.

Room Tip: It's a poputlar place. Book well in advance, especially for high season.

My wife and I spent two nights during Easter at this beautiful hotel. Even though its location is superb the building itself is on the ugly side, a little bit updated, with too much concrete and a 70ish look. Nevertheless, our room was very big, had fantastic views and was very, very clean. The hotel staff is excellent and so is the food. The breakfast buffet is awesome and the restaurant offers very good fare at a reasonable price. We managed to get a good price on the internet and will visit again if we can. The only minor drawback is that the parking spaces are few and if the hotel is full you can have a hard time finding a spot...

A beautiful hotel right on the Mediterranean, just up the hill from a secluded little bay with a small beach. If you're looking for a good place to kick back and relax on the Costa Brava, Aiguablava's a great choice. We drove from Collioure to Cadaques, took our time in Cadaques, and then ended up at Aiguablava for the night, and it was one of the best days of our trip.

Be sure to check for different rates on different days, and with different discount schemes--we paid 114E for bed & breakfast with the youth rate here, and we were able to find an even better deal at the Cardona Parador for booking during the week instead of over the weekend.

We were there during off season so it was a very quiet visit. We found the dining room pleasant and efficient. The food was very good as well. The breakfast is the usual european style and sufficient. The room was clean the view spectacular. Interesting pine floors in the halls. No problem with parking.

We normally stay at Aiguablava Hotel when visiting the Costa Brava, but it was closed ( winter ). We had been to see this Parador on previous visits.
We booked the day before our arrival and got a good deal though Lastminute.com ( with out breakfast ). The Parador direct had the same price, but breakfast was 15 euro a head and we prefer to to go and have a coffee and pastry outside a hotel.
The Parador is very bloc shaped building, a little tired, but with stunning views. It was a very big bedroom, very good beds( Large twins put together ! ) and a lovely big bathroom and fantastic shower. I enjoyed the bath gel, up to my neck in bubbles !!.
The terrace was lovely, we bought a bottle of Cava at a supermarket and they provided us with a bucket of ice, no problem.
We did not eat in the Parodor, as we go to our fav restaurants in the area, but I must say the bar prices were very good value and were the same as local bars.
Fantastic location, but lacks atmosphere , though good value for money..
Also good free WiFi !
