“bit disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

The food is nice, but service was a bit lacking and in retrospect this was the least of 5 places we visited during our stay.

“Some people eat here every day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

We did! Twice in 2 days, they were recommended for their rice dishes. Also great seafood by the day and home made aioli. Salads are incredible and service is very good. An old local guy shuffles in every day from the looks of it and has a salad and wine. It's a gem. Also opens through the afternoon when other places shut down for a couple of hours.

“Pleasant, friendly and tasty tapas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2012

We had an early lunch (by Spanish standards) and were the only people in the restaurant. This did not bother us one bit, as the food (tapas) was wonderful. We had the tuna carpaccio which was so so tasty. The food was beautifully presented, and reasonably priced considering the restaurant location (right in the middle of Begur).

“Pretty plates, terrible tapas”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2012

To be honest, we were really swayed by the good reviews on this site, as on first glance, and perhaps as a rule of thumb, the quality of a restaurant, in my experience anyway, is in-directly proportional to the number and size of TV screens in the rooms- this has 2 x 40' screens on either end, so go figure!

Needless to say, even though the crockery is lovely, sadly from the very first bite into some dry, deep fried patatas bravas (i've tasted better 2 day old english roast potatoes!) served on a fancy tetrahedron plate with not one, but two jus de jour, it was not looking good.. to be followed immediately by burnt croquetas which had the added bonus of extra gristle (which btw when we complained were told was normal in this part of Spain so apologies if this is the case , but really not my thing!)

I could go on, but either we had a really off day, or most of the reviews here haven't eaten great tapas, or had a better experience with the non tapas menu (paella looked very good, although as one reviewer has said, looks very different from the saffron Valencian version)

Service was also sub-standard (understaffed) so we didn't leave a tip.. shame- hope you have a better experience if you choose to go..off to Platillos tonight, so things can only improve in Begur, fingers crossed!
