“Character. Best reason to lodge at a quaint historic hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

Having visited literally hundreds of hotels in cities and villages, over 40 countries in 5 continents, I now place the multitude lodging alternatives under a critic's magnifying glass, basing my selection purely on personality and the gracious resources available through TripAdvisor.

What a pleasant surprise it has been to find this hidden jewel, now in the Historic Hotels of America Directory, rather than lodging at your standard cardboard carbon-copy, ho-hum chain hotels.

The moment you walk into the lobby, you find yourself greeted with a sincere smile and a "what can I do for you" attitude beyond the standard check-in procedure. The rooms are fantastic (specially appreciated details such as the Starbucks coffeemaker), exquisitely decorated and the facilites, dating back to 1716, operated as a hotel since 1889, breathe history in a geographic spot that screams "location, location, LOCATION!" Not one but two very amenable restaurants and a well-stocked bar complement the facilities.

I lodged at the Prescott wing and slept like a baby, waking early to a vibrant cup of coffee, ready to walk Americana in the flowery streets of Concord. Excellent for a week-end getaway or a business trip to Boston (it's only 20 miles away). Enjoy the gusto of la joie de vivre!

There are not many hotels available in Concord, but that is okay because this place is quite a gem. It located at the center, a quick walk from the downtown with many restaurant options, as well as around the corner from the gorgeous and endless Sleepy Hollow cemetery. We stayed in a ground floor suite that was big enough for Lincoln. The rooms themselves are bit antiquated, but the bathrooms were very modern and wonderfully comfortable. It gets quiet at night, and they have the best breakfast in their restaurant. You can sit out front on the porch and feel like you're just passing the time in the 1700s. Its a great little place and I do plan to return to this amazing little town, I will be staying here.

Concord is a great place for a weekend trip and this is the perfect place to stay. The Inn has a nice historical feel, which was in keeping with all the historical (and literary) sites we'd come up to see. Fortunately though the rooms have been recently renovated, so you really get the best of both worlds. The food served at The Liberty was good. We didn't eat at their fancier restaurant, so I can't comment on that. Good service and no issues with noise or anything like that.

On a business trip in Concord, I stayed for a few days in the Concord Inn. I chose it to avoid the regular chain hotels which were similarly priced, but were located on the interstates in stead of on the quaint, cute square of Concord. The Colonial Inn pretty much is what the name says. An old hotel with history. If you like that kind of thing, you will have a good time. It is charming, unique, clean and comfortable. Older visitors will enjoy the live jazz played by very old musicians. Visitors that want a very quiet visit will be a bit disappointed because older places like this are always a bit noise. And the band was pretty loud. The staff was friendly, and the location is nice on the monument square of Concord. The room itself was perfect for me, although some might find it a bit small. The bathroom was really small.

Tip for the management: Give people more power outlets. It is nice that you have incorporated outlets in the desk, but two is not enough for my laptop, phone, mp3-player and camera. It was not appreciated that I was woken up all three mornings by a trucks turning and parking literally outside my window in the Prescott wing between 6h30 and 7am.

The hotel was very clean and cozy. The bathroom was impeccably clean. The only issue I had, which was minor, was the noise level. That is not something that usually bothers me, but in the next room there was a child screaming and crying and it was very loud that even the TV couldn't drown it out. Otherwise, the history of the hotel is great and they have live music in one of their bars that it a MUST! Food in the restaurants there are delicious - well worth a visit, I would stay here again for sure.

One of several places in a very historical and quaint little village not far from Boston (translate that to uber-expensive and desirable). Like most of them, wanting to keep history as it is, the place looks as if it is still in the 1800s everywhere. You can smell the dust and hear the boards creak while an attempt is made to be in the 21st century. If you can put up with only average food in only average rooms, you'll be fine. Right in the middle of the city square in town.
