“Nice option in the heart of. concord”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

We stayed here in room 305. The room was appointed nicely appointed and looked like it had been renovated recently. Staff was ok but gave us the wrong directions. No biggie. The inn is historic so there are some odd twists and turns in the layout but that's to Be expected in a place of this vintage. The complementary coffee in the lobby was better than most hotels. Now, for the downside. The rooms are small, I'd guess about 10x12 or so. Ditto on the bathrooms. The real issue was the shower though. I'm not a big person but the thing was about 2x2 with a tiny shelf to hod your soap, shampoo etc. when said items dropped I had to twist and contort to retrieve. The water pressure varied too but again that's to be expected in an inn of this age. We did not eat here but it looked like they have some nice options and an afternoon tea.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room and inquire about shower size!

Shabby, but speaking more of neglect than history. Also very overpriced, and if you want to leave early plan on an extra $50 fee. Their staff can only be described as underwhelming. The food is OK and would be good at market rates. A big disappointment.

Interesting history and ghostly stories. This place is elegant yet oozing with historical charm. The dining room is spectaular, service is great and accommodations are comfy.

The small lounge is very cool too and the hotel is located in the heart of the town where you can walk to so many things.

Ghost lovers, you gotta go! Be sure to stay in the main house for the best experience!!!

Room Tip: Stay in the main house and ask for one of the "haunted rooms"!

Our recent stay at Concord's Colonial Inn was a very good experience. It is a beautiful old building with a long history. The room was homey and attractive, spotlessly clean and the windows even opened! We could hear the birds singing in a tree outside. We had chosen and made reservations for some friends as well as for us, and were pleased with everything the inn staff did for us to make the stay pleasant for us all. We had a special request to have some very perishable food stored in a freezer and the desk personnel obligingly found room for it in a freezer in the kitchen. We were happy that we could walk to many of the wonderful historic attractions, as well as shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.

Traveling with a group to attend a friend's wedding in nearby Lincoln. We decided to stay at the Colonial Inn after looking at accomodations and rates at hotels in Cambridge and Boston, and honestly there wasn't another hotel that could beat the combination of both. We stayed at the Rebecca Townhouse, which accomodated 4 people. It was just across the street from the main property - but we still managed to get lost when we first arrived, since the employee working the front desk (it was a very late check-in, about midnight), wasn't very familiar with the property (he must have been a new hire) and pointed out a different building, which turned out to be the Town Hall. Luckily, we weren't aware, due to nighfall, that we were surrounded by cemetaries, otherwise we would have been spooked.
The location of the hotel was ideal, it has a great trail nearby, where you could run by Ralph Waldo Emerson's home, for those looking to get a little cardio in. It was walking distrance to the Main Square, which has a really charming row of cafe, boutiques, etc...and also walking distance to Sleepy Hallow cemetary, where many of the great literary gaints are buried, Alcott, Thoreau, Emerson. I'm not much of a history buff but it was a great way to soak some up without much of an effort.
Rebecca's Townhouse is an older building, but it had nice features, a large master bedroom, with a very comfortable bed. a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, stove, and microwave, the bathroom was small but very clean. There's also a living room shared with the kitchenette that has a sofa with pull-out sofa, its small, twin size, and not very comfortable, but beats sleeping on the floor. If you stay on the top floor, be prepared for many stairs.
Lunch at the Colonial Inn was truly fantastic, we had a lobster roll (amazing), a caprese salad topped with lobster, grilled corn on the cob topped with cotija cheese, finished off with a few glasses of wine. On a nice day sit on the porch, enjoy your lunch and the people-watching.

Nice hotel. It's pretty large and has many rooms. It is advisable to take one of the nicer rooms. Room 24 is supposedly haunted, but who cares, it was a great night. A very clean room and a lovely place to stay. Concord is a great little village and the historical importance is of course something everybody should know of. It's right next to the Sleepy Hollow Cemetary where you can find the graves of Emerson, Hawthorne and Alcott, for example. North Brige is only 5 minutes away and there are lots of museums and restaurants in the vicinity.
The restaurant at the inn is rather expensive, but the quality is good.
The only downside is that we did not check out officially yet, but roomservice has totally prepared the room already as if we had checked out already. This is something that should not dare to happen.

I recently stayed here, in the main part of the inn, with relatives for a family reunion weekend. Here are the pluses. The inn is perfectly located to walk or bicycle to nearby attractions. The employees are welcoming and helpful. The food and service in the dining rooms are good, though nothing outstanding. The public areas of the inn are sort of charming, with random sitting rooms and hallways winding around. The bar is cute and has some fun, low-key locals playing live music on weekends. Here are the minuses. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are miniscule. And I do mean miniscule; there is a small sink, a small shower and a toilet, and there is just barely room to stand in front of the sink. (The showers, inexplicably, have no tray or shelf in them so you have to put your soap and shampoo on the floor.) The beds are not queen size, as advertised; instead they are full size. The air conditioner unit in the wall was loud, though it did do the job and keep the room cool. If you are bringing heavy luggage, be aware that the only way to bring it into the hotel from the parking lot in the back is up two flights of stairs. So pull your car up in front and bring the luggage in through one of the Monument Square entrances, before you park in back. The hotel employees told me that because the inn is landmarked, they are prohibited from doing things like installing an elevator from the parking lot. Bottom line is that the location and charm make it a fine place to stay if your main purpose is tourism, but don't expect anything lavish.

Room Tip: My relatives who stayed in the other parts of the inn (not the main inn) reported that there was a l...
