“Clean, pleasant rooms and great location, but mediocre breakfast.”
Reviewed August 24, 2009

I booked a room here as a present for my daughter. We were traveling together in New England and had only one night in Concord. The room was a little overdecorated for my taste, which is simpler than all of the frills. The owner was welcoming but did not involve herself in our stay. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. The coffee was so watered down it was undrinkable. The quick bread and muffins were store-bought. We were offered pancakes and sausage after we had finished but chose not to try anything else. I would recommend this with some hesitation.

We were impressed by the North Bridge Inn, whose location could hardly be bettered, convenient (walking distance) to the North Bridge Park, or the Alcott and Emerson houses. Our suite was beautifully decorated, as indeed was the whole inn. Breakfast was ample and good, though we longed for better coffee. The only problem was finding a decent restaurant. Concord is a culinary wasteland. The Colonial Inn next door has an adequate dinery, but it is not by any stretch imaginative or even interesting, and it is the best of the lot.

The suite we had did have a complete kitchen, which was interesting considering that there was no especially convenient place to eat in our rooms. But if the inn's individual kitchen facilities were matched with the local deli (there is one, and it's pretty good for wine and cheese and microwavable food) the Concord experience could be considerably enhanced. (HOWEVER, typical for Concord, the deli closes Sundays and Mondays at the height of the tourist season.)

What a lovely little inn! To give you a frame of reference, I am not your typical B & B-er. And yes the North Bridge Inn has it all; cuckoo clocks, floral prints taking over every surface, the "charm" of a creaky staircase...and yet I am in love.

I traveled with my mother this past week (4/21/09) to Concord, MA and we stayed in the Dickinson Suite (room #3) at the Northbridge Inn. The rooms in our suite were large and comfortable, if a little cutesy. It had a full dining/living room, a galley kitchen that had EVERYTHING you might need (fridge, range, sink, microwave, plates, cups etc.) and a bedroom with two queen size beds. The rooms have lots of windows that we kept open the entire time, leaving a cool comfortable breeze throughout.

Our suite was immaculately clean and attended to daily. The beds were very comfortable but the highlight of comfort was the sofa in the living area. The pillows, duvets, and sofa were all seemingly made out of the same material, upon asking they were all crafted especially for the inn by the same person. I kid you not, these items are heaven wrapped in angel kisses. I have not felt so relaxed as I did lounging on that sofa gazing out the window. Amazing.

Overall I would strongly reccomend this B & B for anyone traveling in and around Concord, MA. Fabulous experience.

We were lucky to have the Emerson Suite booked for our mini weekend getaway. The location is perfect, just at the heart of Concord center, walk to many shops restaurants and beautiful houses. The room is spacious (with a beautifully tiled bathroom, and a mini kitchen) and tastefully decorated. It shares the parking lot with Colonial Inn next door but it was not noisy at all. The booking was easy and straight forward. The room was clean, comfortable, and with free wireless internet too. At breakfast, guests can have the usual cereal, yogurt, juice, fresh food, home made bread, as well as a hot breakfast (we had french toast and sausages). The house dog is very very quiet and friendly, never bothers the guests. The shower pressure was really good and they provide shampoo, lotion, face cream, towels and ect. Hostesses are all every friendly and helpful yet stay out of guests' way. I would definitely come back again.

We recently visited Concord, MA, and stayed at the North Bridge Inn, which was by far the best out of all places we stayed in MA. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, spacious, very clean, well furnished, and even had a kitchenette. The innkeeper, Heidi, was so nice, helped us with good sightseeing and dining recommendations, accommodated my special dietary requests, and even made us a take-out breakfast for the morning we had to leave early to catch our flight home. The inn also has a wonderful central location, conveniently close to restaurants, shops, and historic sites. This inn will definitely be my choice to stay from now on when visiting the Boston vicinity.

At the risk of having the whole world find out about this great little inn, I am writing this enthusiastice review from the Thoreau Suite of the North Bridge Inn. Not even waiting until I get home.

Wow. Great location right in the heart of Concord Center (and I thought the Colonial Inn had a monopoly - I cannot stay there due to mustiness).

The North Bridge Inn has all the charm of an antique boutique hotel, but it is fresh and clean, clean, clean. Only 6 rooms with kitchenettes or full kitchens. Beautifully decorated in traditional style. Very friendly owner Heidi, and her adorable corgi, Posey made us feel right at home. (For those of us with allergies, Posey stays on the first floor away from the rooms. Ask which suites allow pets and which do not.)

Delicious rotating hot breakfast each morning... french toast, eggs and bacon, pancakes and sausages, banana bread, fruit and a variety of cereals and muffins - thank you Heidi and Deborah!

I highly recommend a stay. Very comfortable and casual. Feels like visiting home.

My family stayed at the North Bridge Inn for two nights and had an enjoyable experience. The rooms were as advertised on the website. The two women who ran the inn were both friendly but gave us our space. The breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular but still above average. The location of the inn is wonderful - it is just off the main street and within walking distance of shopping, food (we recommend Helens on Main Street) and several historical sights. There was plenty of parking behind the Inn - they share the lot with the Colonial Inn next door.
