Very nice outside dining when weather is good. Food was good, as was service. Great atmosphere at old inn on streets of charming and historic town.

We stopped for lunch at the Inn while touring the area. The grounds were gorgeous and the Inn was dressed appropriately in Star-Spangled Banners". We were even joined by former Colonial enemies in military uniforms, who patrol and add flavor to this village. The atmosphere is a bit touristy, and the food was "OK" for a light lunch. I wouldn't rate this as a food destination, but the Inn is attractive and worth a look for its history.

We took visitors for dinner. We all ordered different dishes and they are were poor. We ordered an Indain Pudding for dessert to give a taste of NE fare. It was the absolute worse Indian Pudding I have ever had (and I have lived in New England since I was a child).

Took a friend for breakfast and that was good.

Over the last few years, the Colonial Inn has made significant improvements in their menu and the quality and presentation of their meals. It is a pleasure to go there, and it has retained its "old world" charm.

My friends and I had 3:30 reservations for afternoon tea, and were not seated until 4:00. While waiting, the couch we were settling into was taken away, and staff bustled around us vacuuming, moving furniture, and generally creating a feeling of chaos.
There were no decaf teas on the menu, though apparently they were available when we asked our waiter. The teas we ordered were wonderfully brewed and flavorful. The food, though, was less well-prepared. The scones - and accompanying condiments - were enjoyable. What an unpleasant surprise, then, when some of the sandwiches and desserts we bit into were still partially frozen. Having really enjoyed tea at the Colonial a few years ago, we were very disappointed in today's experience, and will not return.
