“The most annoying waitress!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014

My wife and I just had a great meal at the Papa Razzi on Newbury Street a week back and happened to be passing by the Concord facility on our way into a play in Boston. We decided to stop in at lunch time to have something to eat before our destination which was a matinee play in Boston .

From the start, our rather "odd" waitress was just not friendly. We all noticed it and she simply lacked something that made us feel welcome or any type of friendliness. We let it slide and waited patiently for our entrees to arrive. Well one of the two woman at the table next to us got up and went to the ladies room (or somewhere) and was gone for a while. It seemed like it was our waitresses responsibility to entertain the other woman sitting there by talking incessantly. We sat there waiting for our meals, trying to have a conversation only to find ourselves attempting to talk OVER the waitress! She went on and on and on. We were all beside ourselves.

I started making comments loudly to maybe distract her from her conversation. No luck. My wife spoke up VERY loudly trying distract her by saying how rude it was for the waitress to show no consideration for other patrons while she rants along... It was really impossible for the three of us to talk to each other while she projected her voice quite a distance.

After a while we started to wonder if our food was getting cold on the line as she continued on. Eventually someone from the back decided our food sat long enough and brought out our food before it got cold. Her yacking continued. About another 5 minutes later, my mother turned around and politely yelled out "Excuse me, we're trying to eat and talk and you're making it impossible!" Finally she gets the hint. Thank god!

On our way out we spoke with the hostess and another woman who were very apologetic, yet were not completely surprised. Apparently she rants on from the kitchen and annoys them also. Not sure she even introduced herself and provided her name, but I suspect that's a good thing as I'd be stating it here.

Our brunch menu's were excellent and served as ordered, however she really ruined what could have been a great lunch with my wife and mother.

“Good restaurant and good food at reasonable prices..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

This restaurant is part of a small chain which was purchased two years ago by new management. Whenever you have new managers they feel that they have to "change" menu items to improve the bottom line. Naturally there is some tripping along this path as you eliminate old favorites, thus upsetting regular patrons. They even did way with the old ice cream supplier and substituted something that was like the tasteless $1.49 for a half gallon special that you might find at your local supermarket.
The clientele spoke up and management seemed to have listened to some respect. There's a mix of business people and locals for lunch, and mostly locals at night. It's off the beaten historical path in this old town ( Concord was Englands first in-land town in the New World), about a mile and a half from the town center...

“Very good food, excellent service, very pleasant experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014

After having dinner at Papa Razzi in Concord several times, we chose to have our daughter's graduation dinner there. It was excellent. We had 25 guests (including young children) in the Alcove; service was excellent; food was very good; the staff was very nice to the children. We couldn't have been more pleased with the whole experience.

“Great food and presentation, inconsistent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

Stayed next door and wandered in thinking we'd find a pizzeria. Not! Menu is varied and reasonably extensive, food and prep excellent, but service was lacking - no grated cheese, water or waitress after food was served, and no one around for a good 10 minutes. Still, the food was good enough that we found ourselves there again two nights later, and this time everything, including the service, was excellent. Dishes I enjoyed - the Caprese salad was delicious, ripe tomatoes, home-made mozzarella and fresh picked basil. Orecchiette con salsiccia, with a nice fresh slightly bitter broccoli rabe, was prepared like la mia nonna would have done it, with a little pasta water in the bottom, perfect for sopping with the excellent focaccia. The Veal and Chicken Parmigiana were deep fried but well prepared, with a nice marinara on the side with the linguini. All in all, the spotty service the first night didn't deter us from coming back, and I'm glad we did.
