“**BRING A MAP!!**”
Reviewed October 28, 2009

This is a very large cemetery and it's difficult to find what you're looking for WITH a map, and impossible without! We came empty, and meandered around for an hour before finding someone with a map, who was also having no joy. Together we were able to find the sites we all come here for, like Thoreau, Emerson, and Alcott.

But seriously - bring a map, or bring good walking shoes.

“Fun and amazement”
Reviewed October 23, 2007

For the literary minded there's no better place to pay your literary respects than Sleepy Hollow. I had to beg hubby to take me there and then he was so excited to help me find the graves. He was rewarded with a visit from a red tailed hawk that swooped inches from our head as it tried to secure a chipmunk dinner (it missed).

Nathanial Hawthorne, Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott and Ralph Waldo Emerson all lie along the author's ridge section. I might be creepy, but I loved the vibe in this cemetery. It was almost as if the writer's creative juices were still flowing.
