This is a beautiful site, especially in the fall. The visitor center has an interesting 8 minute video about the bridge's role in history. It is 1/4 mile from the visitor center to the bridge itself.

Visited the town of Concord and the North Bridge this past weekend with family and friends. The town itself is very pretty with many, old homes and foliage in full bloom. Short walk from Concord out to the bridge. The Emerson family home is out there near the bridge and open for tours. The area is larger than we expected with large fields, multiple homes, and attractive overlooks. Well worth the effort on a nice day.

Great way to experience some American history. Especially nice during the wonderful parade on or about April 19th celebrating the beginning of the American Revolution when the redcoats march to the Bridge and are repelled by the Minutemen.

You will find the first stanza of Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Concord Hymn" sung at the completion of the Concord Monument, April 19, 1836:

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world."

Inscribed on stone the base of the bronze Minute Man statue dedicated in 1875, made by artist Daniel Chester French. These help to put you in the mood, but beyond that the meadows, the meandering river, the park guides giving historical chats, and a stop at the visitor center makes the Old North Bridge a very worthy stop on any historical tour of Concord.

The site is beautiful, especially in the fall as the trees are beginning to change color. We didn't learn anything new at that location, though, after having visited the other attractions within Minuteman National Park and having heard several rangers talk.
