Hard to believe a battle took place here. Nice walk from town on a nice day.

This was our first stop on visit the Minute Man Historical Park. The walk from the nearby visitor's center was pleasant and the ranger's posted on the bridge and the adjacent grave site were excellent. We heard the last portion of a talk he gave to a group of school kids and asked him several questions afterward. It was early in the day and he was eager to talk about the skirmish. (That may not be the case at the end of his shift after giving the same talk a few dozen times :-) )

So quiet you can hear the history. The park rangers are historians. We are fortunate to have this piece of history preserved for us. If you are within 3 hours of here, take the time to visit. Be sure to spend time talking to the rangers. They are a wealth of information but will not initiate the conversation.

The Concord bridge is an amazingly important sight to America as a country. This is the place where are revolution started and we began the road tworads freedom. The area itself doesn't look like much at first. There is simply a small wooden bridge crossing a creek and a house up on a small grass hill. There is also the ruined base of the farm house which had been used to stockpile munitions for the militia. The true attraction of this battlefield is the feeling of importance you feel about this place as you stand there. As I stood on the field I could almost imagine the Red Coats marching across the(then flat, now arched) bridge, while the American Militia nerviously watched from the crest of the hill. This battle field can be extremely interesting and moving for those who enjoy history and the places it took place. I personally think that this battle field is a must see for all who enjoy remembering the birth of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy because of the courage of the militia who fought and died on this battle field.

Disclaimer: I'm a history teacher, so I think stuff like this is cool. Teenagers who have studied American History may find it interesting, but it's certainly not a place young kids would enjoy visiting.
The North Bridge (sometimes called the "Old North Bridge" is adjacent to the Old Manse house, former home of Emerson and Hawthorne. The tour guides there are friendly and knowledgeable, but again, not a fun or entertaining place for a younger child.
