We chose Cudillero as our home base and Casona de la Paca was a rural setting with parking included. It is a beautiful home with very nice breakfast (not included). Very comfortable and clean room with balcony and quiet in the evenings. We had a separate sitting area as well. The main floor is also gorgeous, great place to sit and have a drink and read a book. The grounds are also beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly, gave us great suggestions to visit the beaches around the area.

Room Tip: Rural setting perfect for travelers with cars exploring the north coast of Spain and the beaches.

After scoping out online the fishing village of Cudillero as an overnight stop along the coast, we next checked TripAdvisor for hotel ratings. Onsite parking was important to us, so Casona de la Paca was our choice over some of the small quaint hotels closer to the center of town and the harbor. The location was good for us, we didn't need to be in the center of town which was quiet in late April. The hotel was lovely, set in beautiful grounds. Our comfortable queen bed in a double room had a large side sitting room which connected to a common balcony terrace area. The bathroom was on the small side but was truly charming with its bright tiles, pedestal sink, and large shower/tub. Breakfast was good but not extensive. Perhaps the best parts of the hotel are the large public rooms, nice garden seating area and grounds, and especially the helpful staff. English is limited but every effort is made to help guests. The only negative was that the various online maps we consulted didnt locate the hotel address. Never-the-less, it turned out to be relatively easy to find by following the road uphill out of town. We were very happy with our stay.

Room Tip: Try for a room with a balcony

We started our driving tour of the northern Spanish coastline here, and were delighted with the choice. Booking early, we scored the rooftop apartment with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside and the coastline. Perched above the Cudillero fishing village itself, either a bit of a walk or tricky drive down, we spent less time in the village than we usually do - but that was planned for and expected. (Made up for it in some of the other towns - reviews to follow!) The accommodation was better than any review or photo can portray. Lovely clean, comfortable bedroom, huge bathroom with deep bath, and a terrace on all four sides. We spent lovely evenings on the wrap-around balcony with twilight till 10pm having a post-dinner drink and pondering the magic of summer holidays. Breakfasts were as described by others - fabulous! And the location ideal for day trips to the mountains (great day walks in Picos de Europa) and the sea (I thought Australia's rugged coastline was unbeatable - northern Spain is a worthy competitor!). Helpful hosts, drinks available anytime, good local restaurant only steps away. Highly recommended!

We travelled with small children and grandparents. Grandparents had a very lovely room in the main house. It couldnt be faulted. We, on the other hand, had a family room which was very outdated and had an awful musty smell. It didn't compare to the rest of the house and we were very disappointed as it was expensive for what it was. Breakfast was lovely and the dinner recommendation was excellent. Enjoyable but could have been better.

We stayed at Casona de la Paca for 8 nights during our tour of Northern Spain. The hotel is full of character and the rooms are superb. We booked one of the rooms with the sitting area attached which was very good. We did have a problem in that the toilet kept flushing itself every few minutes which is a real problem during the night. We reported this and we then had to vacate the room as the cistern needed replacing. We were moved to the penthouse which was a very special room with wonderful views of the countryside. Montse and the team were very good and always willing to spend time with everyone and provide good knowledge of the surrounding areas to visit. The hotel also has a good garden area where we spent a few hours a day to relax in the sunshine before heading out later. As we had done quite a bit of travelling being able to relax in the garden w as a real bonus. The breakfasts were very good indeed and having a gluten free dietary requirement I was looked after very well. Certainly a place to visit and stay if in Asturias.

Room Tip: The rooms with seating areas are very good, but for that extra special moment treat yourself to the penthouse.
