Description: Casa Marcial is a two Michelin star and three Repsol Star Restaurant run by Chefs Nacho and Esther Manzano in the town of Arriondas, Asturias. Asturias is a region in the North of Spain (The Green Coast), very well known for its spectacular scenery, culture and gastronomy. It is popularly known as “The Natural Paradise of Spain”. The restaurant is situated in the bucolic hamlet of La Salgar. The guest experience starts before taking the first bite, just driving up to the restaurant along the stunning rural landscapes and passing through “The Fitu” viewpoint, which is considered one of the most spectacular mountain views of Asturias and the North of Spain. Casa Marcial is a former village inn run by the Manzano Family since 1898 that keeps its rural charm. The country chic decoration of the restaurant creates a minimalist, elegant and relaxed ambience, offering the guest a warm welcome. The cuisine of Esther and Nacho Manzano and the philosophy of Casa Marcial express their own way to understand life, squeezing the location and tradition as the starting point to create their own culinary language. The surroundings and their personal signature will be reflected in the sensory and gastronomic experience that the client will enjoy during their visit. From the moment they start the journey, they will be hosted by a warm and professional service guiding them through the event, until they leave the restaurant. Casa Marcial offers two Menus to enjoy in a long and short version. The first one consists of the historic and emblematic dishes of Casa Marcial and the second one is designed specifically for this New Season. The careful fusion between environment and gastronomy makes the visit to Casa Marcial a unique experience.

My wife and I had dinner in Casa Marcial at end of June 2012. We chose the tasting menu. The quality of the ingredients was excellent - how they accomplish this in the middle of nowhere is beyond my imagination. I particularily enjoyed the carrot and leek soup - unbelievable freshness and smoothness, probably the best soup I have ever had. A dish quite rare to Michelin star restaurants. My wife's favourite were the mussel salad and the lobster. On the dessert we had a long discussion with the chef whether green tea goes well together with chocolate or not. Moot point :)

The atmosphere of the restaurant is homely and warm. You can see that the whole staff are friends with each other.

Two Michelin stars is just right in my opinion. Definitely worth a detour if you are in northern spain.

Really this is the kind of cooking that when you read convincing restaurant reviews trumpeting innovative chefs you never actually get. The north of Spain treasures its culinary innovation, and here at the house in which he grew up, Casa Marcial's chef reinvents the rural woodland cooking -- stews, cornbread, grilled fish, herb sauces, peppers etc -- with extraordinary panache to deliver sensationally unusual and crisp flavours in unprecedented combinations but never at the cost of dining pleasure. World-class, really.

We were on vacation in Asturias when we visited this Michelin-starred restaurant. The trip to the restaurant was memorable: beautiful countryside, small winding roads, little signposting. The restaurant is located in what looks like a century-old farmhouse. We chose one of the menus and we loved every course! The service was also very friendly and helpful, and they helped us translate the Spanish menu into English. We would definitely return when our travels take us to Asturias.
