We had an enjoyable Saturday evening at the Parrilla Restaurante J.J. in Llanes. The restaurant is well located, right in the centre of town on Calle Mayor. The restaurant has a modern design inside but retains a warm atmosphere.
Our arrival at just after 9pm was timed to perfection - just minutes later the restaurant was full with locals arriving at Spanish dinner time. It may be worth making a reservation in advance at weekends.
To start we shared a bowl of clams and a plate of anchovies with manchego cheese and olives. For the main course we had pepper steak and monkfish respectively. I also had a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. The food was excellent - my steak was perfectly cooked as I had asked and we were both impressed by the quality of what we ate.
Service was attentive throughout. One thing I will comment on is that we were asked to vacate our table in order to free up the table for other people (the restaurant was still filling up with new diners at 11pm!). Our waiter did this very politely indeed though and I had no problems with it at all - we had been sitting for a considerable time after the meal and it was only fair to move on at that stage.
Our total cost was €97 for 2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 dessert, a bottle of Rioja and two coffees. I felt this was reasonable for what we ordered.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant, it has a good menu and the quality of both the food and the service is very good.
