Fun little trip up to the castle worth the view and history. Careful, if driving, not only are the streets narrow, the parking is limited.

As you'd expect the castle is at the highest point around, so be prepared for the hike.
The castle has been renovated a lot so to be honest with my eye it's difficult to distinguish between the original and the new. I guess that could also be a compliment to the fine workmanship.
The height also lends itself to marvellous views.

The Castle at Salobrena is worth a visit, the views are good on a clear day (it was sadly very cloudy when we went) but in reality that's about it. It is a nicely preserved Arabic castle - the walkways are good and there are nicely preserved areas with notice boards in many languages to explain what you are looking at. There are toilets on site but no café or refreshments. Will go again when it is a clearer day.

The surrounding area is quant and older part of the town with small houses tumbling together with narrow walkways between. Very reminisiant of Greek islands.

Visited on 1 September. Nice Arabic castle. 4€ entrance, not a huge amount to see inside, old Arabic baths in the centre, but lovely views across the coast and inland.
Lovely walk up the the entrance, lovely little square with bar to rest your weary legs in, just before entrance.
Looks lovely at night when lit up too.
Worth a visit if staying there, otherwise not worth travelling, just to see.

As the sea was rough on one of the days we visited Salobrena we divided to go to the castle. It is well worth the walk up .the views from the walls are stunning . We were particularly interested in the old Muslim Bath area where it is still possible to see the hypocaust. This was made into a house by the Christian's. The defences were sound and the whole structure is quite amazing. Please note the museum which we hoped to visit to see artefacts is currently closed for site removal.
