La Sardina is a chiringuito (beach restaurant) at the bottom of the access road into West La Herradurra. It has a main covered roof area (with straw/grass) and also tables on the beach itself with umbrellas.
2 of us went for lunch (advisable to book if on a Saturday or Sunday in high summer).
We both started with fish and shellfish soup (€6.50) – a good fish stock base with lots of fresh fish pieces, calamari, clams, mussel and prawns.
To follow we shared a plate of almejas marinera (clams €11.50) and boquerones fritos (fried fresh anchovies €8.50) with a mixed salad with avocado (€4.50). The clams were plump and delicious. The anchovies were extremely fresh with firm while flesh.
We have eaten at La Sardina many times over the years (as well as other restaurants) and consider La Sardina as probably the best chiringuito in the area. Very popular with predominantly Spanish families as well as tourists.
Service is very efficient and professional. The same waiters are still working there now as several years ago – always a good sign.
