My friends and I stayed at this villa for a week last month and I wish it had been for two.
The villa is very private, sitting proudly at the top of the hill allowing for amazing views down onto almunecar.
The villa had a number of different spaces which allowed a big group of us to enjoy. We became quite ritualistic; morning brews in the panoramic sun room, brunch outside
in the garden terrace, afternoon snacks by the pool... I miss it. Anyway, the facilities were clean, felt typically traditional and inkeeping with the villa, and everything you need to self cater!
The pool was private and had plenty of sun throughout the day. The flower petals do drop so allocate someone to morning sweeping duties! However, I would not change the flowers they were a beautiful backdrop to holiday photos and well looked after by the gardener.
We hired a car and would recommend to help with supermarket runs and local area trips; there is plenty to see such as nerja caves!
Half of the group liked the challenge of the hill, and we even did a couple of 5k runs to the almunecar cross incorporating the hill climb! It was not for all of our group but it is easy enough to walk down and get a taxi back (for when your having a wine or three with your evening meal :p).
Almunecar is very spanish and it was lovely to holiday in a relaxing, more slow paced town (as I am more used to Ibiza most summers). The locals are just lovely and there is great value for your evening meals "menu del dia" is amazing value. And the best pizza I have ever eaten at la nuova sardegna (so good we went there twice). And you can finish your night with the chilled cool vibes of the rooftop blue bar with cocktails or get your party started at the karaoke bar where they do very generous portions of alcohol!
Overall, just the perfect getaway in an amazing villa and I really hope to go back next year. The hosts really did make this a great stay for me and my friends and I can't thank them enough!
Villa pool and gardens - We stayed here last week of July for 2 weeks, when we arrived the pool area and gardens where very dirty food and wine/pop marks all over the floor which had attracted a lot of ants, when we messaged we was told that the pool/garden cleaner just comes to do the pool and hose down everything else(hosing does not remove food it needed to be moped) therefore we spent the next morning rectifying this.
There is no maid(which we knew) and the pool man comes twice a week but only does the pool and waters the flowers.
Villa - the villa needs some TLC , the sun room is amazing the views outstanding , I agree with the previous review about the aircon it’s very confusing and does not have a remote control so very annoying when it turns off in the middle of the night when your still hot. We had problem with the WiFi but ended up fixing it ourselves after two days waiting.
Town - the town is down a very very steep hill if your not very fit this is defiantly a No no a car is a must, the town is a very Spanish town (yes I know I was in Spain ) but if your looking for a Costa del sol / Salou etc place this is not for you hardly any menus in English and waiters only speak a little bit of English so struggled when trying to order . There was nowhere to book any excursion so had to do all ours online and drive to them so again if this is what your looking for Almunecar is not for you.
Did all the negatives spoil our holiday -NO it’s a lovely town but would not return.
The villa is lovely and when we eventually got there we were so surprised with the bottle of wine, bread & cheese left for us. The WiFi was a let down & it took us a wee while to realise what was in the Welcome Pack was in fact incorrect! It had not been updated. The villa is in need of updating including the white goods in the kitchen. We spent two weeks there and whilst they changed the bed linen and towels including the pool towels they did not do a clean of the villa. The villa is way up in the hills and whilst people put on TripAdvisor it is a 5min walk to the nearest restaurant it is not. It takes time to get to the bottom - and to get back up - if you are not the fittest or have joint problems you will need transport. You will need to hire a car to get out and about to be honest. The beds are ok - loved ours (main bedroom) as it was a firm mattress however only one pillow supplied per person. Linen is ok - there was a bit of blood on one and ours only had protectors on. Glitches include the fuses blowing and no hot water for a day or two, however you get in touch with the agent & she sorts as quickly as she can. The pool is fab, the villa is roomy and there are plenty of places to chill. The chap who does the pool and the chap who comes to fix things are lovely and friendly. Air conditioning in three bedrooms only have the one setting that could be found. I would certainly recommend stopping there and would hire again. Overall a lovely place.
The Location is amazing, the views are to die for and the villa is a lot better than the photos, its a lovely place and very large with everything you need provided, the town is larger than we thought with plenty to do, it has quaint little streets with plenty of restaurants and free tapas with your drinks which was nice.
The pool at the villa was very private and well laid out with flowers everywhere the villa is furnished to a high standard and felt like home from home, we will definitely book this villa again as the three weeks we spent there were great, and it helps when the owner Graham gave us all the information we needed when we booked and continued to stay in contact prior to our arrival giving tips and advise on the area.
Thank you Graham
Just back from a relaxing week staying here with my family. The villa itself is beautiful and can have 8 people to stay comfortably.
The property was extremely clean and well maintained, and had everything we needed to relax, cook our own meals when necessary and enjoy the pool!
The villa itself is only a 10 minute walk away from all the bars and restaurants of Almunecar and the beach itself. Nestled up in the hills, it is very private and quiet too.
Would definitely recommend as the perfect place for a group of family or friends to stay.
We stayed in the villa as a group of 5 friends, and couldn't have wished for a better stay. The apartment has a wonderful view over the coastline, at the top of the hill, and is a short walk into town, meaning that you get the privacy as well as the access. The apartment was very airy and spacious, with beautiful flowers and tiles outside. The kitchen was well equipped and we had many nights in, enjoying the apartment. Overall, would definitely recommend to others.
We were blown away by the villa. It has everything you need to cater for your stay from a sun trapped pool to BBQ facilities. The location is great, situated a short walk to the beach and central Almunecar and perfectly placed for day trips to Malaga, Granada or the closer, smaller beach towns. The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms extremely clean. The dining and living areas are also large with an amazing sun room with views of the coast line and town, exceptional value for money.
