This is a beautiful family-run cafe in a very pleasant location on the sea front and with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Indeed, after many days searching for live traditional music in the town we finally encountered authentic flamenco guitar outside Cafe Ayer!
The family were so very friendly and helpful to us on our first trip to Almunecar, a level of generousity for which we were extremely grateful as it enhanced our stay immeasurably. They serve an english-style tapas menu and deserts. My friends really enjoyed items on the menu while I sampled the red wine, which was really the best i'd had at any cafe in the two weeks I spent there. It's a pity we didn't discover Cafe Ayer earlier in the trip but we all certainly look forward to returning. Definitely our favourite cafe in Almunecar!

Loved the super-friendly family team at Cafe Ayer... And a great, British twist on tapas - a little wedge of gorgeous lemon drizzle cake - with coffee and a cute slice of baguette with Brie/salad with a beer.

Lovely wraps, too... Particularly recommend the chicken, peppers, spinach and cream cheese. All beautifully garnished and presented with a bit care and attention to detail.

Unfortunately we only found this cafe during the last week of our three week hols. Maybe that was just as well as I would have put on a lot of weight as I loved their lemon drizzle cake. However, all the food we had was excellent. The british owners were helpful and friendly. On our last day we spent about two hours sitting in the sun outside this cafe talking to friends it was great and we didn't feel that we were rushed.

We enjoyed our baguette and it was well priced but we didn't enjoy the atmosphere. A couple of drunken people in, sounded like regular English ex-pat locals with choice language. Not at all our thing.

Really sorry you're experience was spoiled. We do not encourage this kind of clientele at Cafe Ayer. I feel that your review is very harsh as we provide the venue the product and the service, unfortunately from time to time we do experience over indulgent holidaymakers not always creating the perfect atmosphere. We always try to maintain a quality family cafe.

Visited this cafe a few times on recent holiday if usually for a cuppa and a piece of lemon drizzle cake! The apple cake is also delicious. This cafe does not pretend to be a restaurant but offers a varied choice of tasty light lunches. The owner is very helpful and will advise you on making the most of your visit to the area. Looking forward to visiting again next year.
