“Average hotel, great location, great staff”
Reviewed September 27, 2009

We stayed here for a one night getaway from the kids. The staff is very friendly and the location is great for restaurants and shopping. The rooftop bar is nice for sitting outside and enjoying the evening (drinks are pricey though). Parking is $30. The rooms were disappointing in their blandness. There was nothing that said "wow" like I expect at the W. That said, beds are very comfortable and bathrooms are clean, albeit very tiny!! For us this was a free night we earned as SPG members, but if I had paid for it I would have been a little disappointed for the price.

Rooms are small, bathrooms are tiny, no tub.
The hotel has a "coolness" about it ... but to the extreme.
Everything is overpriced.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
Moved to the Intercontinental after 2 nights, a great place to stay in Buckhead!

Hotel has a club attached and booms the bass until 3am on weekends (fridays too). I am sure that is fine if you attend the club and are out to party. If you aren't, you'll be awake. Lobby is also converted with a lounge with loud music, ugh.
Rooms are just okay, nothing great. Quirky style, nice location next to the mall. Poor access to self parking (have to walk to the Westin).

The W met "W" expectations in every way. Friendly greetings the entire length of the stay, front desk very pleasant, there is a great rooftop bar/lounge that is extremely happenning, concierge recommended a wonderful restaurant for our purposes, close to the MARTA, close to shopping. Room was clean and luxurious, there was lack of storage space, but that is the W's concept (minimalist) - wonderful bath products, very clean gym with extra amenities such as cold wet towels, sanitary wipes, headphones - would absolutely return to this hotel if ever in atlanta again

Genuinely friendly staff surprised me! Mostly one person I dealt with the most Karen. What a breath of fresh air this young lady was. Very quiet, clean, comfortable, well appointed, great continental breakfast, fast service, very hospitable staff. Will stay there again.

Yes, the "new" W--which is obviously a refurbished older property--is fresh and exciting in many ways. It has the signature W amenities and service, yet i cannot put this in the same class an the Intercontinental or Grand Hyatt in Buckhead. Bathrooms are similar to the Hyatt Place with an outside sink, and a tiny, tiny rolled door area for a commode and shower. Beds are comfortable, and internet service is an additional fee. Service is very good, parking is expensive ($30 for valet)--self serve parking is NOT on property and still exacts a fee. Adding these factors together equals a solid 3 star property--still a good review but more realistic.

The high point is for sure the extreme friendliness of the staff - unfortunately this does NOT translate into providing efficient service.
The whole operation appears to be severely disorganized with obviously difficulties in coping with the levels of business they have. Maintenance of the place must be non-existent leaving you to wonder if this is a new hotel as advertised or just a remodel. The condition of the public spaces and rooms is poor and not very clean. There are trays, empty dishes and glasses scattered in the hallways at all hours of day and night. In the rooms the mini-bar looks like it was “raided” (it’s obviously not replenished on propose) but the most annoying thing has to be the choice of installing noisy AC window units versus a central air system controlled by a thermostat – I expect to find these at a Motel 6 or a HoJo but not at a W.
Must refer this is a PARTY! PARTY! Hotel so if you are staying over a weekend and are looking to get some sleep even if only after midnight look elsewhere. There are doors banging and people yakking in the hallways until the wee hours in the morning. Although this problem is the side effect of the trendy rooftop Bar which is about the only reason I would think anyone would want to stay at this hotel (it gives you unrestricted access to the Bar).
Also the price of parking is RIDICULOUS if you consider the Westin around the corner charges $10 less per night!!!
So if you are looking to have fun in a cool bar with some friends and get rest once you are home – this is the place to be in Atlanta – otherwise don’t book it!

luvsundbeach,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry that there was not a more positive one to relay. While we do like to have a good time here, it certainly needs to be boosted with a great night's rest and I'm sorry we were not able to maintain that balance for you.

I appreciate you bringing these other issues (from unattended room service trays to empty mini bars) to my attention as they are both unacceptable and uncharacteristic of W Atlanta Buckhead. I hope that the next time you are in Atlanta, we'll have the opportunity to have you again as a guest so that we may provide the true WOW experience, you expected and deserve and the one I know we can deliver. Thank you for your feedback, as it is all vital to our growth.
