Most modern HIE I've stayed at. The room was very nice, 2 flat panels, directv, and even had a sitting area with a couch. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1 night stay at this hotel. We stayed over the weekend and there wasn't anything open in the neighborhood. They did a great job on this hotel.

We encountered some of the friendliest, most helpful staff at any hotel, especially in a big city. We were greeted by name each evening, returning after our day at a trade show.

The hotel is small, the rooms are not spacious. We chose it for the price (much lower than the surrounding big-name downtown hotels), and its proximity to the Georgia World Congress Center. But the rooms were clean and staff friendly -- that's all we were looking for in a hotel. There was a standard breakfast buffet included. You could choose a healthy yogurt, piece of fruit, english muffin, cold cereal, or eggs. Or go for the buns, sausage, sweet stuff. Nothing special, but it got you started.

Convenience: This hotel is just behind the Westin in Downtown Atlanta, so convenient walk to all the downtown restaurants. It's just a 10-20 minute walk from the Georgia World Congress Center and Olympic Park.

After my family's first visit to Atlanta, GA....I would stay here again simply for the staff( not to diminish the niceness of the rooms), but the staff they did a great job(smile)...in particular (Florett at the front desk made sure I knew where I going and what attractions my family and I needed to see while downtown. Her off shift counterpart, Otha's thoughtfulness and ability to make me feel like an individual even while swamped with people calling for his attentions was reassuring, and Vira the hotel manager, she quickly responded to my family's needs to ensure our stay there was over and above what we expected.... A JOB WELL DONE...smile

Room Tip: Chose a room up on a higher floor like 9th or 10th for a great view.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 6 nights with my family and would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to stray in the downtown Atlanta area for a reasonable price, in a newly remodeled historic building and with the most incredible staff you can imagine. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished with 2 dbl beds, refrigerator, sofa, and great views of CNN and the downtown area. We were in Atlanta during a very stressful family time for us and had to get a great deal done in too little time. From the time I called to get directions to the hotel to the time we checked out, everyone there was amazing. This hotel is close to all the major attractions, restaurants, and colleges. The breakfast is exceptional and not your typical continental breakfast served by other chains. The eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls, etc. were great! We brought our car and parked in the garage each night for a reasonable fee and had our ticket validated at the desk each morning. Parking space was never an issue and we had no difficulties walking back and forth as it was just down the street from the hotel. One evening there was a major concert taking place and a parking attendant stayed near the entrance of the garage to insure only hotel guests were using it. We never experienced any trouble with our car but it is always smart to take all your valuables out of your car and never walk alone in Atlanta downtown at night no matter where you stay. The management here does an exceptional job and the staff reflects this. When I ran into trouble with some items I needed to get to an area institution the staff actually helped me scan them and got them in for me. We had to have a late checkout at the last minute and thank goodness they helped me with this without hesitation. Vira, Layla, Cathy, and the entire staff are the best and friendliest my family has come across. Stay there just to meet them!

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and would never return. The only thing good about this place is it's staff. They are very friendly and helpful...but after that...nothing! First, a day after check-in we were moved to another room due to our room supposedly flooding a room beneath us while showering. Second, on two different occassions cockroaches were in the lobby. Third, and most importantly, a friend that was sharing a room with me was locked into our bathroom for over an hour. She never locked the door when she went in the door jammed and could not be open. After our tries, the securities tries for over 45 mins, they hotel FINALLY called the fire department, which in return was able to free her after over an hour. This is a fire hazard!! And if the occupant was alone in the room...when would she have been found.

Thank you for your review of our hotel, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Downtown. We take all feedback seriously, and our sincere apologies that we did not meet your expectations. As we stated in our telephonic conservation, we do apologies that you had to move into a different room due to a flood from the guest next door. While the hotel had no way to avoid the situation, it is deeply regretted.
We have already contacted you in regards to the other issue and have given you all the information needed to assist and compensate you.
Please note that what you encountered during your stay is not indicative of the outstanding service Holiday Inn Express is known for.
We thank you for your patronage and appreciate the opportunity to rebuild your faith and trust in our services

I grabbed this hotel just a few weeks before Americasmart thinking, well, I guess this is the best I can do. I was surprised. The staff at the front desk was so nice & helpful the whole time. They always greeted me as I walked in. I had a king room, I guess it was a suite (?). It had a small room with a small couch, tv, fridge, desk & closet, attached to it was a small room with a king (maybe queen) bed & smaller tv & then a small bathroom. The room had double AC units, which was really nice for the Atlanta summer heat. It is in a great location if you are looking to walk to Peachtree street or Americasmart (both about 5 min walk). It's on a quite street (compared to other downtown streets). I had a great view of the CNN center, Georgia Tech & Olympic Park. I did not drive here (took the Marta) but I could see how parking would be an issue. The hotel has breakfast each morning - bacon, eggs, biscuits, fruit, cereal, etc. which is nice. There is a small store on the corner of the hotel that also serves breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc., which was very convenient & good. I did hear the staff saying that they had oversold the hotel, which is not cool...although this is a common practice among most hotels, airlines, etc. I would certainly stay here again for business travel.

Never Again. Checked in and checked right out. Horrible. Smells, Room felt like a room in an asylum hospital. Very moldy smell. To think this hotel had a complete makeover. Heard was an old motel 8. Staff was pleasant when we checked in and checked out. Went to Ritz Carlton for not much more and had best room and service ever. Could only get two people on elevator. Halls narrow and felt like a fire hazard. Shame on Holiday Inn. Get your name off this building.

Room Tip: Stay at Ritz Carlton. Well worth extra money. Right on Marta Subway line.
