“Very nice place to stay!”
Reviewed January 16, 2008

This hotel is a great place to stay if you have business in Atlanta. It is quite close to the airport, and is a great value for the area. The rooms are very big, nicely furnished, and extremely quiet.

Room service is available, and the service is fast. The quality of the food, both for room service, and in the hotel restauarant is very good.

Check in and check out were a breeze. The desk attanedants in the lobby were friendly and helpful.

First of all, I would like to state that I am a travel agent, so I have reviewed and stayed at many hotels.
The Renaissance Concourse hotel is definately one that I will be recommending to future clients. This hotel is conveniently located so close to the airport that should you get a balcony suite, you can sit outside and enjoy watching the airplanes take off and land. At the same time, the rooms have an excellent standard of soundproofing that while you can still hear the planes from the inside (barely), they do not disturb your sleep. The staff is friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help you. The lobby is extravigant, and the breakfast is equivallent of any breakfast you will eat in any restaurant, though not free. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are fresh and clean. I usually associate a musky odor with many hotels, but am glad to say that this hotel did not have one.
There is actually a television in the bathrooms, and you can rent movies that are still in theatres! They are doing rennovations at this time to keep their hotel fresh, but you can hardly notice. This was one of the best hotels I have reviewed. I will reiterate that this hotel was wonderful, and I will be both staying and recommending this hotel.

The great selling point of this hotel is it's CLOSE CLOSE location to the Atlanta airport. The Hotel sits adjacent to the airport property just over the fence from parallel runways 8R-26L and 8L-26R. From the balconies on the airport side of the hotel it is possible to watch take-offs and landings at one of the country's busiest airports.

I had seen this hotel for years on many occasions as I was zooming down the runway making one of my numerous connections in the Atlanta airport. I wondered what it would be like to stay there and what kind of view of the airplanes coming and going it would have. So on my recent trip to Atlanta I decided to pass though. I purposely requested a room on the airport side of the hotel both in my reservation and at check in. My request was honored. After check-in i found my room, number 428, with its floor to ceiling window and full balcony.

The room looks as if it has had some recent remodeling and everything looked clean an in working condition. I did have a problem with the lock on the door to the balcony and I had to call twice for someone to show up to help with it.

It seems that speedy service is something that hotel doesn't excel at. None of the servers were especialy responsive either and the one at breakfast was almost non-existant eventhough she had only several tables in an otherwise empty restaurant. Food orders were very slow in coming, but then so were drink refills and check-backs, so it was not a kitchen problem.

This hotel was built in an atrium configuration and i heard very little noise coming up from the lower floors in spite of being fairly low in the building. It was possible to hear some of the jets on take off but especially on landing. This noise does become more infrequent between 10:30pm and 7am. These could cause potential problems if you are a light sleeper, but wasn't an issue for me.

This hotel does charge extra for things like parking and internet, something that some hotels provide complimentary. There is also nothing else around the hotel within walking distance. The hotel does offer free regular transportation but I did not use it.

With some work on the service this could be much above average.

I stayed here recently for business. There are the usual amenities that you come to expect from Marriott that are all present. This hotel though needs updating, though. Rooms are dated and need a makeover. The conference rooms, especially on the 3rd floor, are old and depressing. The lounge is quite nice (newly renovated), but avoid service from Lori, Lora, something like that. It took her over 15 minutes to even take our order and at least 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The attitude was like she just didn't care. We moved to the bar and had better service. The next night we made sure we did not sit in her section and the service (from Tracie) was exceptional. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are in need of a new look and new fixtures. Location is convienient for business travelers and the shuttle driver was great. The front desk staff was very prompt and helpful. I will stay here again, being a Marriott member, but hope they schedule improvements soon.

  • Liked — Big rooms, front desk staff, location, Marriott points
  • Disliked — Waitress Lori in the bar, dated fixtures

It is a little bit of a gamble to book with any airport hotel, usually the service is far less than standard, the rooms are usually smaller, and there is always the relentless roar of the jets flying overhead. This hotel; however, is NOT the norm! Upon arrival you are greeted by friendly staff waiting to assist you inside, taking care of any baggage or needs you may have. Check in is fast and very professional. The atrium is large and glamorous, yet the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. The room is noticeably smaller than most, but the extremely comfortable bed and overstocked amenities more than make up for any inconvenience.

I recently had my second stay at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel and again, I just loved it.

If you enjoy airplanes, an airport side room is a must for great views of arrivals and departures.

The beds are like sleeping on a giant marshmallow... you can almost get lost in all of the pillows.

They have a shuttle to/from the airport that you can also use to get to the MARTA station for a quick train trip downtown.

The rooms are clean and quiet, even on the airport side you'll only hear an occasional plane arriving or departing.

Stayed here overnight on our way from London, England. Liked the design--the atrium gives a feeling of spaciousness and calm. Rooms are clean and comfortable . We had a room with balcony on the airport side but if you're not an airplane buff I recommend you take a room on the other side, away from the airport , since the noise can be annoying. It stops at 10 p.m though, so O.K. for sleeping.
