“Smooth Stay - South Tower Better then North Tower”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

This hotel is in a prime location for all the attractions of downtown Atlanta. I stayed one night for a business trip, and had quite a pleasant stay -- but was very glad the reception staff allowed me to move my reservation from a room in the older, dumpier North Tower to the more modern South Tower. For that helpfulness of the front desk staff alone, I would give this hotel a high rating. It is also fairly easily accessible to and from the airport by MARTA -- $3 each way, a big savings over taking a taxi.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, though had no mini fridge. I asked for and was granted a room with an exrteror balcony, which was a big enhancement. Very comfy bed anbd matress, and very quite with no noises coming from outside or other rooms.

On the whole, I would hihgly recommend this hotel for value, quality, service and location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the South Tower, with an exterior balcony.

Last year we stayed in the older part of the Omni Hotel and it was less than spectacular. This time I booked us in the North Tower. Very nice! However, the noise level from other rooms was a problem. It's not that the occupants we overly loud, but just that the sound carries through the walls. Nice rooms, clean, nice view. Would stay again.

I stayed here for 3 nights in the North tower for a conference and overall, this hotel needs refreshing but is an OK place to stay if your standards aren't set above 3 stars. The room was tired, old tube TV, our desk chair had a large stain on it, the curtains did not close completely (these last 2 could be easily remedied, but were not). The bed had more basic linens (no comforter, pillows appeared old as they were lumpy). The room had a coffee maker, the fridge seemed a bit warm. The bathroom was good size and clean, with good water pressure out of the shower. The walls seemed especially thin - we could clearly hear people talking in the next room, or watching TV (and the sound of running water was quite loud also). This is a huge hotel, staff was pleasant but not very present. The MARTA station is walkable (either 5 points or the arena which is a little closer but involves a transfer). Because we were Omni members, we had complementary coffee/juice in the AM and internet. Although this hotel is connected to the CNN center, it is empty at night and felt a bit isolated at night (as a woman, I really didn't feel great walking around then)

Room Tip: The rooms in the North tower facing Centennial Park have great views

I stayed 2 nights at the Omni hotel while on business in Atlanta.
The room was spacious and well appointed. I stayed in a corner room in the north (newer) wing.
I was on the 8th floor and there was some noise from passing traffic, nothing too bad but it could be an issue for very light sleepers.
The gym was well equipped and breakfast offered good variety including an excellent selection of fresh fruit.
The hotel forms part of the CNN centre which has a selection of bars and fast food outlets. There is a MARTA (metro) station within walking distance and downtown Atlanta is easily reachable on foot.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

The Omni CNN must once have been a perfectly nice hotel, but not anymore. My room -- brown and faded, the carpet felt dirty underfoot -- contained little that worked. The tub drain was broken so you could only shower, not bathe. The air conditioner only put out heat, not cool air, regardless of the setting so to cool the room required opening the balcony door. The hairdryer was broken and when I stepped outside to find a maid to borrow another she indicated that many of them didn't work. At check-in, I waited almost 15 minutes because there was a single clerk working registration while about four guests stood behind me to wait their turn. And when I called engineering to fix the AC, they took nearly an hour to arrive. This is a hotel set up for tourists or convention attendees with low expectations, not for business travelers who require cleanliness and a functioning space. Stay at the Hotel Indigo where the service is great, the rooms bright and clean (although smaller), the location much better and everything works.

Room Tip: I was told they've begun renovating finally and that some of the rooms in the top of the North T...

Others speak of the strange room shape, but I found it interesting. Very clean, nice bathroom (I'm finding more and more hotel bathrooms don't have a tub), free wifi, and handy minifridge. I shared this room with my daughter and her toddler and there was ample room for all. We had flights late in the day so I asked for a late checkout and they cheerfully extended it at no extra cost. I took my grandson to the children's museum while my daughter took care of work and it was convenient, right across Centennial Park.

I stayed here 5 nights with my husband while he was at a conference at the World Congress Center. The Omni is the obvious place to stay if you are in meetings at the WCC due to it's location. And it's obvious Omni is quite aware of this. The rooms are adequate but not special in any way. This is not a luxury or romantic hotel in any way. However I will say anything I requested from towels to coffee were delivered quickly. The workout room is very nice and quite large and well equipped for a hotel!
On another note there are many good restaurants nearby to walk to. And if you need a cab while in Atlanta check out a company called Uber. It's like having a personal driver.
