“Its all good until its stolen”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Great location. Good breakfast. Updated and modern. Front desk staff nice and helpful. We did have my children's kindle fire HD's stolen. They did leave my wife's old kindle on the desk though, so thanks for that I guess. The kindles were stolen on the only day we left our clean room sign out. I know housekeepers are blamed for everything, but hotel staff are the only ones with permission to enter your room. The clean room sign was on the floor inside our room on our return that day. We thought this strange since room was still a mess. We didn't think anything else about it until a few hours later when we realized the theft. We filed police report as hotel staff advised us to do. After a couple weeks of "we are trying to track door keypad but having trouble with it." and "keep in touch with us regarding police report." we are still nowhere. My wife did speak with Gunnar today July 5. Lets just say this didn't go well. She had been speaking to another person, and apparently he is her boss. He gets on the phone and starts in and barely gives my wife a chance to talk. He is condescending and a jerk to her. He, in our opinion, calls her a liar and gives some story about how he had a laptop stolen once. That does nothing to help our situation. He offers to comp us a night in a take it or leave it manner. We did since it seemed like we were getting nowhere with kindles. So this weekend stay turned out to be a very expensive one for us since looks like we may have to buy 2 new kindles. We aren't sure if we should call them back or as Gunnar treated us chalk it up to we are [--] out of luck. So this review is to let you all know to either not stay here or hide anything of value. At least they didn't go through my bag and get wallet or still my wife's expensive hair care items. So thanks...I guess. The kindles were just a quick grab and go I guess. (insert as much sarcasm as I can muster here) So stay and enjoy, but beware!!!!!

My wife Virginia felt compelled to intercede on this… and asked “what if”.

I show her my responses to reviews… but on this one… I had not.
Instead… I considered only the comments of my colleagues…

The insurance carrier who could not confirm… the kindles ever existed.
The management company who said… what if they lost them elsewhere.
The operations staff who warned of… future “copycat” guest complaints.

The security staff who could not confirm unauthorized access.
and shared… that to date we have not had any thefts.

No one thought I should respond at all.
Except for my wife who said “what if… the kindles were really stolen”

And also…said …”but you handle it how best you think! ”…
I hate it when she makes that comment… she knows me too well.
She knows that I can’t relax…if there is a possibility that I may be wrong.

First I am really sorry that “this”… has gotten so out of control.
We live in a cynical world… and I am struggling…

I am just a working guy…not an owner...so I can’t use hotel funds…
But I want to pay for …one of the kindles… from my own pocket.

Please send me the receipt by e-mail….and I will reimburse you.

I purchased a voucher from one of the daily deal sites and wasn't quite sure what to expect, although the pictures online made the hotel look nice. Our voucher was a room for two guests and included buffet breakfast the next morning. The hotel is an older hotel and could use some updates. The room was very small and the bathroom was about the size of a broom closet. It was clean and did have a flat screen TV and good AC. The parking garage for the hotel is located in the hotel basement, and it is also very small with very small parking spaces. The cost to park in the garage is $15.00 per night, so be aware of this fee. The breakfast buffet was decent but the number of tables in the dining area is limited, so if you aren't there early when the food is just put out, you can't find a place to sit. We took our plates back to the room to eat. The food was mediocre at best. The location of the hotel is good, though because it is within walking distance of the Marta station. It is also an easy drive to get to Mary Mac's Tea Room which serves excellent southern fare. The hotel has a fitness area but no pool. Overall, I'd give the hotel a B-. For the money, I think you can do better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the courtyard.

I read that you don't come to Atlanta often...even though you live rather close.

But when you do...in reading your other reviews...I did "discover"...
that you like to try...a lot things and have been quite pleased.

In particular...
I do agree with you on your comments about..
the... Chateau Elan and Winery in Braselton, GA...
a remarkable hotel...just north of Atlanta...
and which is a favorite of my wife Virginia and I...
and...
Mary Mac's Tea room where we "send" a lot of our guests..
I find has the "perfect" food...to represent the south so well.

What we have not tried / experienced...is that Segway Tour
But after reading your rather descriptive and helpful commentary...
I now am going to book that tour.

As it relates to your visit with us...thanks for the... good words...
sorry about.... the "mediocre" breakfast...which is rare....
and glad you tried us out...
and since.... you both "sound" like fun....
and since.... we only earned a B - ...I would request...
you try us again... as my guest overnight... so that... we can earn an A.

Call me at... 404-723-0024

Thanks

Everyone at this hotel was super friendly and helpful. We had never been to Atlanta and were coming just for the day and well I was pleasantly surprised at how great my stay was. We had a nice room at the end of the hall the beds were comfy and the room was beautiful. There was not a view but who needs that we were going out to see the sites! Underground parking was good, only problem is someone was blocking the entrance so we had to track them down so we could get in but once we did that worked out well , I felt the parking was secure and that was important,
We walked a few blocks ( down a hill just to warn those who don't like a walk) to the Aquarium and World of Coke ( just across from that) we did both attractions in about 5 hours. Warning Soda and food at Aquarium are outrageous eat and drink before you get in $3.95 for a coke!
Aquarium was nice, cute penguin exhibit where is you can bend down you can go through a tunnel and stick you head up in the penguin area and get a good look at them and they can look at you! Not for those with bad backs!!!
Hotel staff was wonderful, the lady who was running the breakfast was terrific and helpful, she was great sorry I did not get her name but she said she lived near Stone Mtn !!! And front desk staff also really nice. We had a nice stay at this hotel. Room rate was good and beds were good and food was good can't ask for more than that, PS get you cokes at the hotel vending machine only $1.00 there!!!

Room Tip: Ask for an end room for more quiet location

"Super duper, had a blast, hop and skip away, epic, so much fun...cute penguin"
THOSE are all your words...

As you may know.... I read all of the... other reviews... of a reviewer...
to see if they can be trusted....in their comments... good or bad...

At first...after reading yours...I was going to ...have a little fun with you...
by...sharing with others....
that you appear to have a water "fetish"...
"rafting", "boating", "kayaking", "riverfront", "lake view"... Atlanta Aquarium.

Then I thought perhaps...I should focus on your favorite foods...
which also seemed to focus on "water"...crab, shrimp etc...
and...."always" ending with some sort of ice cream...

Then I saw...the word...."romantic"...used a number of times...
and "kids"...and read about their bows and arrows....and pea shooters/slings...
and that is when I knew...
I had to state/share... the following...

I work hard/ and too many hours...many people do I know.....
but.... in that quest... to please my guests...
I fail...have failed...
to spend quality time... with my wife Virginia...who "likes being with me"...
I know because she keeps telling me we need to spend time together.

and so...
reading your reviews...and how happy you and your family were...
I am doing a first...
I am going to print all of YOUR reviews...and use them as a "template"..
to try and live life....a bit better / fuller...I like being with my wife too...

I particularly was moved by... this line..in your review of the..
Homosassas Springs Wildlife State Park....

"Highlight or lowlight...depending you your feeling about the Circle of Life...
a duck flew into the panther area...and well he was a goner"

Well I don't want to be a goner...

Thanks for the warm words... about our hotel and Atlanta...
and thanks...for being helpful...to me personally.

Stayed here briefly in June in a King Room. Rooms are very nice and the location is great too. Checked out very early in the morning so I cannot comment on the breakfast. Rooms felt new and had everything you need (hair dryer, ironing board, safe etc). No great view as all windows face the outside multilevel walkway. I would stay again. Staff were friendly albeit a bit matter of fact. Fridge is empty but there was a coke machine on our floor. Quiet at night. Problem free stay. However with a series of cooler skyscraper styled hotels I'd probably upgrade to one of those if I were to stay again, price difference not that big. We Payed somewhere around 120 bucks for one night.

RARE that I will do this...I have to share right from the start you can be trusted.

I read all of the OTHER reviews of our reviewers...

and as I read yours...most of the 243 you have posted...
with cities like...
Copenhagen, Zurich, Berlin, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Venice..
to name a few...
and not...to imply to our readers... that you are better than them...
but more so to share... that you have experienced a lot.

Anyway in all of your reviews...in my opinion..
you have done a rather excellent job... of commentary and taking photos.

The variety of hotels and hostels and small hotels you have chosen...
CHOOSE...
to try...are to me...an indication of a remarkably adventurous person.

Your average rating for some of the most unique hotels has been a four..
and so to get a three from you....to me... is like getting a five.

So...thank you for choosing us...thanks for comments made.

PS...as for that $ 120 dollar rate...June was a high demand month..
in Atlanta... so rates while up there...for that specific time period...
were still much lower than the other downtown city hotels.

safe travels

Had a free night voucher and had my first stay at this location. So close to many Midtown attractions. You can walk to the aquarium, Coca-Cola and lots of great restaurants. This is a more upscale Best Western but is an older location. They were very friendly and had a well stocked hot breakfast. Parking is $15 per night and limited in amounts of parking spaces.

The room was very clean but small for a King room. The flat screen TV is oddly mounted on the wall to the left of the window and near the closet making it difficult for you to view it sitting one side of the bed. Would like to have seen a higher quality bed that wasn't so hard but over all if you get a good rate this is great place to stay on a budget.

Weird...is what I call that room too.. and... weird timing with your review today.

Every hotel...okay maybe... I am being presumptive... with "every"...
has a room...that is in a weird configuration or location... or something "else".

We have...three such rooms... "stacked" on top of each other on three levels.
These rooms while certainly "pretty" and new...have an "interesting layout".

"Weird" timing of your posted review... is because...
earlier that day...
I was showing the hotel... to a prospective partner and one of the owners...
and the subject came up..."do you have any odd rooms"... and I said "yes".

"Weirder" still ( is that a word?)
is that no one guest in the 24 months we opened...has commented on that room.

Anyway...glad you had a good stay....thanks for the good spot on commentary.

As for your..."other" 12 reviews...I read them...always read a reviewers other ones.

Yes....I agree Lenox Mall is a really great mall and...Mary Mac's Tea room...
an historic restaurant opened in 1945 serving..."real" food...southern style...
real meaning among other things...real turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing...
is something you should treat yourself to.

Front desk people were helpful and friendly. Room was a bit small, but clean and comfortable. Hotel is located right downtown, walking distance to the aquarium and Coca-Cola, plus plenty of restaurants, including Max Lager's. Parking was just $15 a night and right off interstate 75. There's even an outdoor courtyard. The only negative was the short shower curtain, but I'm being very picky.

"very picky"... you call yourself. But as they say..."there's nothing wrong with that" !

I must share that... I was fascinated...by your commentary...
and that of all of your commentaries...in your 21 reviews.

You have...almost a journalistic approach.
straight to the point,
referencing highways and restaurants...
and the conditions you found in the hotel...and the guestroom.
(also brief... using on average... only 4 lines to say it)

As mentioned in a previous response... I am reading a book...
"It's not what you say, It's how you say it"...by Joan Detz...
well..
I consider you a great reviewer...because how you say it...is perfect.

And yes...you always comment on... the friendliness of the staff...
which let's me know....you a "good person" too.

Thanks

My stay at the Best Western Plus Inn was great. Enjoyed the free breakfast. The room was great and the hotel is in walking distance of eveything. I would stay here again. I would recommend the hotel because this was the only with low parking fees.

ODD ?....or more specifically I said..."this is an odd review"...then I "caught myself".

I should be "saying"...thank you for giving us a 5 star review...
and it's great you were happy.

Instead.....or rather ..."in addition" to thanking you...

I am compelled to share...
that while we do... currently have... the lowest parking fee $ 15...
it is only because we have a "special" arrangement...for now.

As you know ...all downtown hotels in a major city charge for parking.
this because...
We ALL have to...as we do not own the lots... and have to lease space.
The range for Atlanta is typically....$ 19 - 32.

That stated...and here...I go saying... something odd myself...
while parking is a lot of money...
please know that those hotels with higher fees than us...
may have other...
features...locations and amenities better than us...that may "offset" that cost...
and as such....
they should be considered when you are choosing where to stay.

Bottom line...yes really glad you stayed and glad your daughters weekend was fun.
