Let me start by saying that this place is *not* very inexpensive, and you get more than you pay for. It's certainly not the nicest place I've ever stayed at, but I didn't expect it to be. I'm so happy to have found the Highland Inn, it makes it easy for me to stay over in Atlanta without feeling guilty about spending too much money, as I only live about 85 miles away.
Many great restaurants are to be found within walking distance, the restaurant right downstairs (Cafe 640) has a wonderful patio where I was able to bring my dog. The continental breakfast isn't fancy, but the coffee was good, there was OJ and bagels and bananas and muffins. Free parking on-site. My Wi-Fi connection was not so great in my room, but bringing a laptop into the awesomely home-like atmosphere of the lobby makes total sense. I sat up reading my Kindle there before bed each night, my dog loved it!
Dog friendly!! Did I mention that? I've got a Boston Terrier, one of the receptionist has a Boston Terrier. It felt like home when my little guy was able to roam free and make friends with every guest he met.
I would certainly stay here again and again.
