“Great location, friendly staff, great value.”

Let me start by saying that this place is *not* very inexpensive, and you get more than you pay for. It's certainly not the nicest place I've ever stayed at, but I didn't expect it to be. I'm so happy to have found the Highland Inn, it makes it easy for me to stay over in Atlanta without feeling guilty about spending too much money, as I only live about 85 miles away.

Many great restaurants are to be found within walking distance, the restaurant right downstairs (Cafe 640) has a wonderful patio where I was able to bring my dog. The continental breakfast isn't fancy, but the coffee was good, there was OJ and bagels and bananas and muffins. Free parking on-site. My Wi-Fi connection was not so great in my room, but bringing a laptop into the awesomely home-like atmosphere of the lobby makes total sense. I sat up reading my Kindle there before bed each night, my dog loved it!

Dog friendly!! Did I mention that? I've got a Boston Terrier, one of the receptionist has a Boston Terrier. It felt like home when my little guy was able to roam free and make friends with every guest he met.

I would certainly stay here again and again.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room overlooking the parking lot. Rude people talking VERY LOUD out there every m...

Me and my wife stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is ok if you only want to have a place to sleep. The doorknobs to the bathroom and closet fell off, and the waterpipes were loose. The breakfast was a little too poor. Staff was friendly and helpfull. The bed was a little too small.
The TV did not function, but we had acces to internet. The neighborhood did not feel safe to us. We were approached by beggers and a person who wanted to sell us dope during a afternoon walk. Anyway may be we will stay there again. We talked about what this place has been used for in old times.

Our family spent 2 nights here. It was in the perfect location, very convient to all the local attractions without getting in heavy traffic. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Rooms are a bit outdated and bathroom very small but was very clean. For the price, location and convience and "homey" atmosphere was the best.. Felt very safe in the neighborhood. Would definetly stay here again.

Only stayed one night but so glad I chose to stay here. It's definitely unique and unusual but that's what makes it's so cool. If you like everything new and shiny, don't stay here. This place has character...with a capital "C"!!! Solid wood doors, narrow stairway (no elevator here), exposed pipes and vintage posters and prints on the walls. And just as described, a friendly cat that roamed the hallway. Even though this place is within walking distance of lots of restaurants and shopping, it was completely quiet in my room. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was a little small and cramped. Parking is hit or miss as the Inn share a lot with 2 restaurants but there is plenty of parking across the street so it wasn't a problem. Staff was friendly and made check-in and out super easy!

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, make sure you ask which floor your room is on.

This hotel is a very old property that needs much updating. One electric outlet was not secured to the wall and pulled out when detaching a plug. The sink had the hot and cold water reversed, and the faucet was not attached securely to the sink. The sink was also located in the bedroom. The toilet and shower area was small. There was no dresser for clothing, only a small closet. The TV was attached to the wall but not convenient to the bed, so in order to watch TV, one had to sit on the end of the bed. The The room was clean, the beds comfortable. There are room air conditioners, refrigerator. The breakfast room was quite small, maybe 4 tables. On the table were some boxes of cereal, a bag of english muffins, bagels, bananas, a jug of milk and OJ. The staff were very nice but it was not our kind of hotel so we checked out the next morning.

Room Tip: If you ask for a "double" room you may just get two rooms as we did.

I have been to this hotel on many occasions and although it may need some special touch ups and new furniture, the rooms are SUPER CLEAN and the staff is EXCELLENT!!! I travel the world on the regular and have stayed at many different styles of Hotel and only a very small handful have as much character and greatness of location as The Highland Inn does.

Stayed 2 nites. This was our 2nd visit to The Highland Inn. Great location, walking distance to fun locations for food and drink. Staff is great and unusual. One looked like a farm girl from Kansas, the next Goth! Could not ask for better folks to deal with. They appear happy, friendly, and are very helpful. Ok the rooms are not the Hilton but they are just fine, clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a place downtown and do to want to pay high prices -- this is the place. We are already thinking about our next stay
