This is more like 3.5 stars. The hotel was in good condition, overall the staff was very friendly, and the bed was comfortable.

A couple of minuses: downtown Atlanta is convenient to exactly nothing and there's this weird, empty feeling after 5 p.m. This is common in nearly every city, and not the hotel's fault. Also, I was on the 16th floor, and I could still hear street noise and sirens. The windows opened all the way, and there were no screens, which I thought was odd and potentially dangerous, especially if one is traveling with small children.

So yes, I would stay here again (I got a great rate $108/night), but only if I had business in downtown Atlanta. For my own purposes, I am better off in Midtown or Buckhead.

Sorry to hear you did not like staying in Downtown Atlanta. But that you felt the hotel was in good condition and overall staff was very friendly. Our hotel is close to some great tourist spots such as CNN, The World of Coke, The Aquairum etc. Being located right on Peachtree Street we do get some street traffic noise and I am truly sorry if that was a bother.Glad to hear that if you did ever have to stay Downtown due to business you woud consider us again.

We recently stayed at the Ellis during the incredibly busy Labor Day weekend, when not only was the DragonCon convention in town with 55K people, there was a game as well, adding another 140,000 folks. The Ellis was close enough to walk to everywhere we need to go and even shared the block with a MARTA station in case we needed to range further afield. The hotel itself was quiet, gorgeous, well appointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, from the valet, the doorman to the desk attendants and everything was laid out for our comfort. The room wasn't enormous, but it was large enough for three to stay comfortably. The bathroom was the same, not large, but set up well so that it wasn't inconvenient to have three adults sharing the space. The on-site restaurant was not only decorated in quiet elegance, the food was wonderful and again, the staff were exceptional. All in all, this was a great place to stay on all counts. Proprietary elevators keep out any who might wander in off the street so you can only access the guest floors if you have a room key. Free coffee in the lobby as well as the rooms was a great way to wake up. An ATM in the lobby and easy computer access were also pluses. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again any time we're in Atlanta.

A small lobby greets you. So not the large, loud convention hotel. Rooms are cleanly modern but not enormous. Ours was well laid out. The baths are larger then usual with a glass enclosed shower. Amenities are a cut above even including a free AJC. Being there Labor Day weekend, car noise on Peachtree and sirens went on well into the wee hours. That was still better than a rowdy convention crowd inside.

Good to hear you felt the Ellis was truly a botique hotel, and that your experience with us was a good one. We are not the typical convention type hotel and because of this we feel we need to make all our guest loyal Ellis Hotel supporters will want to return in the future.

We were greeted at the door by wonderful bellman. Sammie (sp) helped us to the room and was so helpful. Brenette was at the front desk most of the days we were there. She printed directions for us and went above and beyond to make our vacation wonderful. It was my first time to Atlanta and a great impression was left. The valet was well worth it. The guys took great care of the car and were so timely. There was an instant trust with the employees at this hotel which took the stress off of being in a new place.

Had one night here on a weekday. The staff is courteous, helpful and efficient. For a downtown boutique-type hotel, it was also fairly inexpensive for a city. Close enough to the Aquarium and other downtown attractions for a 10-minute walk or short drive/cab ride. Adjacent to the Peachtree Marta station. Room itself was clean and comfortable with nice linen and towels. While it wasn't a factor for me on this, a pleasure trip, there was no WiFi in the rooms (only in lobby and restaurant), which would affect my choice for a business trip. Restaurant was nice and the bars were both great.

The Ellis Hotel was perfect for a stay during Dragoncon. It is close enough to the 5 major hotels hosting the events of Dragoncon for walking, yet far enough away to avoid the massive crowds. Karishma helped us on arrival, showing kindness, consideration, and hospitality with all requests. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and soft linens. Room and bath was extremely clean, with little extras provided for guests. Even the prices at the Coke machines was only $2.00, much cheaper than at other hotels. The hotel restaurant, The Terrace, had great food, and wonderfully kind and competent staff. We enjoyed meeting Nicole, who was very helpful and provided wonderful service. My daughter and I have already made reservations for next year's Con; however, we would love to come back during the year, just to experience the hospitality of The Ellis.
