We've been wanting to see this aquarium since it opened and finally had the time and money to do so. For what you pay though, something needs to be done about the crowds. The aquarium itself is beautiful. We loved the very tall glass of the tanks and seeing a whale shark up close was cool. Our favorite part by far was the dolphin tank. We went up to see the dolphins before the Dolphin Tales show started and there was one dolphin in particular that was very fascinated with my daughter's toy. She had purchased a toy in the gift shop that was basically a grabber with a dolphin head. She would hold it up to the glass and this dolphin would sit there, right at our faces and follow that dolphin head no matter where she moved it to. Then it would swim away for a second, only to come right back looking for that toy. We could have watched that for hours. Having the tanks set up to allow the dolphins to be right there in your face is amazing!

BUT, there are some downfalls to this aquarium. The crowds are just too much. There is a main lobby in the center of the aquarium where hundreds of people and oversized strollers are rolling moving about constantly. It gets so crowded people start shoving and pushing. You stand in line for too long to get food and if you aren't careful, you will have people constantly jumping in front of you. In my opinion, a set up in which everyone is made to go the same direction at the same time, would be so much better. Once you get to a tank or display, you'll be very lucky to get right up at the glass and if you do, you have to move out of the way quickly or you will get pushed out of the way by other guests.

It took us about an hour and a half to see all the exhibits, then we decided to eat. All we ordered was a small thing of chicken fingers, a small order of fries, a hot dog, a bowl of mac and cheese and three drinks and it totaled $40!!!! Absolutely ridiculous and didn't even taste that good. Then, trying to find somewhere to sit and eat is impossible. We wound up standing with two small children to eat while other families without children were taking up tables to just sit and chat. When we were ordering our food, a cafe employee noticed my youngest daughter eyeballing the desserts. So she said, "sweetie, would you like a sample of a cookie!" Now notice, she said "sample." We get to the checkout and the cashier wanted to charge us! I told her it was a sample given to us by the other lady and she said, "we don't give samples!" I got very angry and told her to find the woman because i wasn't paying for a sample. After a heated discussion, she decided to remove the cookie from my order. It wasn't even a full cookie, it was a little sliver sample.

After eating, we went up for our turn to watch the Dolphin Tales show. We stayed and played with that dolphin for a while then realized they called the dolphins in to the show tank, so we went to get in line knowing the ropes were about to open allowing entrance to the show. Suddenly, we went from one of the only people up there to completely surrounded by hundreds of people that had bought tickets for that show. They start shoving to get in line, trying to jump ahead of those of us who'd already been up there for an hour waiting. Then the aquarium is so uncoordinated about lining people up, that it was utter chaos when the entrance door to the show started opening. They take you through one set of ropes, then you get in line to hand the person your ticket. Well, our person was having computer issues. So here we are, one of the first families up there, waiting for well over an hour, just to have people that had just gotten there going ahead of us in line. Another employee noticed the hold up and started taking our tickets. Then some other employee hollered, "the damn door ain't going to open up no damned faster doing that!" WHAT??? Did you honestly just get that irate and curse right there in front of young children!? First of all, have your systems working properly before having people get in line and secondly, make it to where you can get in line immediately and don't risk waiting for so long only to have newbies jump in line in front of you.

The dolphin show isn't so much about dolphin as it is a theatrical performer who sings entirely too loud. The sounds and special effects can be frightening to small children and was to my children. There needs to be more focus on seeing the dolphins and what they can do.

Overall, we are OK with our trip, but the negatives have made it to where we won't ever go back. We prefer the Chattanooga Aquarium and will stick with going there from now on.

We went to Atlanta to see the CocaCola museum and the Aquarium..and the aquarium is a must see. The exhibits are each unique to themselves, lots of room to sit and rest in between. Plan on spend most of the day to really appreciate the vastness of the place and the amazing marine life.
One of the best was being able to watch the dolphin show from beneath the water. They have a viewing wall to watch them underwater. Plan on going back again!

This aquarium is definitely awesome, but they don't do a good job of keeping lines moving. Beware if you have small children or strollers, it is really tough to see. The aquarium is divided into geographical regions - Tropical, Open Ocean, Arctic, River, Georgia and a really awesome FREE dolphin show! (When you buy entrance tickets, you can get tickets for it.) The best new exhibit is the Frog show, but I am not sure if it is permanent. The frogs are beautiful and I learned some super fascinating information, I highly recommend this exhibit. FYI, the World of Coca-Cola is right across the walkway, an easy way to do two big attractions in one afternoon.

Best Atlanta atraction yet! Very easy to locate, easy parking, and great people to welcome you, what more could a visitor ask for. And then you enter the building! very well designed so that even if you get separated, any age can locate the center of the building and reunite. I loved every tank, especially the whale sharks! Timed entry tickets and timed tickets for the dolphin show make it especially easy to plan your day. The dolphins even pleased my very picky husband, who said i was fantastic!!!! We did not eat there but by lunch time the place smelled really really GOOD! Buy your tickets online ahead of time, pepay the parking, give your party at least 4 - 5 hours, and just have a really nice time.

The Aquarium was a fun and informative tour. My son and I took the Behind the Scenes Tour and this was fascinating. My only complaint was just that the aquarium was too crowded. That took away from the experience a bit.
