“Great Hotel, Few Dining Spots Nearby”
Reviewed February 22, 2011

Stayed at the InterContinental for three nights in February to visit the attractions (Aquarium and Coca-Cola) for our two youngsters (6 and 8 yrs). Got a great price through Hotwire, otherwise it was outside of our price range. Took Marta to Buckhead station and walked 3 blocks to hotel - safe, sidewalks clear, easy walk, even w/ luggage and two children - a bit cranky after a 2 hr flight.

Lobby was excellent - nice sofas, chairs, small tables for people to have drinks, coffee. Off the lobby was check-in counter - and staff were very helpful and quick - even w/ a guest staying at half-price.

Pool and jacuzzi were nice - open even in 70 degree weather and the kids loved it. Very peaceful setting w/ buildings blocking street noise. Wife and I read while kids swam.

Room - standard 2 double-beds was nicely appointed. A bit cramped, but nice. Safe for valuables and laptop. Standard set-up - stocked minibar all the usual expensive prices. Soaking tub and separate tiled shower was nice. Coffee bar on a table in the bathroom. Standard television set-up. Beds were extremely comfortable w/ a pillowtop cover. Free Atlanta paper located on the credenza near the elevator. Ice machine on every floor. Hallways very clean and well lit. Four (4) elevator banks - which was great. Some hotels have very slow and few elevators.

No free wifi. "Boarding Pass Station" had two computer stations w/ printers to print boarding passes - free. When I went to print tickets for Coca-Cola, the charge was $5.95 for 15 minutes and $1.95 for the print job. I had my own computer w/ wifi, but no way to print.

No coffee shop on the premises. A small gift shop sold snacks, personal items, magazines, etc.

Major criticism was the lack of restaurants nearby - closet was the hotel restaurant - a nice French restaurant that had a great menu, but nothing for a 6 and 8 yr old. We did have dessert and breakfast there one evening and morning and the kids enjoyed it. Beyond that - Ruth Chris across the street. A Chick-Fil-A down the street, a couple of other local restaurants - Buckhead Pizza across the main avenue. Caribou Coffee shop about 3 blocks away. The Lenox Mall and other restaurants were about 6 blocks away in the opposite direction. Don't walk - while the area around the hotel was peaceful, as we got closer to the mall, traffic was thicker and people anxious to get into the mall. Wife said not to walk again through this area. After dinner we called the hotel and someone came to pick us up - huge cadillac escalade - son loved it. I understand they drop off guests on a five mile radius, but you have to wait - first come first served. Mall was a typical suburban mall jammed w/ people. Rather pretentious and lots of parking cordoned off for valet parking.

All in all. InterContinental Buckhead was a great hotel stay - met our needs well. Peaceful, well appointed and staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again, but be aware of restaurant choices and plan better to dine on the way back from attractions or have the hotel limo take us to nearby restaurants.

Thank you for your thorough review of the InterContinental Buckhead. We are pleased that all our amenities and outlets exceeded your expectations and helped to make your Atlanta visit more enjoyable. We are sorry to hear you did not find the local dining options satisfactory. For your next stay with us, please feel free to stop by our concierge desk. There are many wonderful restaurants in the Buckhead area which are not located on Peachtree Road but are still accessible using our driver service which runs within a two miles radius of our hotel. We are confident we can find the perfect restaurant that your whole family will enjoy! We hope you have the chance to visit Atlanta and the InterContinental Buckhead again in the near future. We would be happy to help you with any attraction or restaurant recommendations so you can explore the city further!

My husband and I stayed at Intercontinental for a romantic weekend getaway and we couldn't have been more impressed. Everything from service to decor to bar/restaurants all the way to the fitness center and spa exceeded all our expectations. The lobby is breathtaking and maintained a good vibe/scene from the XO Bar, where we enjoyed music from the piano and super cocktails served with elegance and flare. The rooms are spacious and the staff is extremely cordial and accomodating. They've definitely been coached to maintain a "yes, we can do that for you" attitude. Overall, great experience and stunning hotel! We look forward to our next visit.

My husband was on business and I was at leisure. This hotel worked really well for both of us - plenty of space in our room, we stayed on the Club floor which meant a separate lounge to sit in during the day and very nice public areas, bar and 24-hour restaurant 'Au Pied de Cochon'. The spa treatments were good and not too expensive, there is also a reasonable fitness room and an outdoor pool where I was able to sit even in February as the temperature reached 20 degrees Centigrade! The hotel is also an easy walk to the Lenox and Phipps shopping malls in Buckhead. Special mention to the Club lounge staff and to the bar staff, who always tried very hard to please.

My friend and I spent one night at the hotel. The customer service from the front desk was good. The conceirge seemed to busy at times to really answer our questions or get more information. We bought the shopping package which comes with a $25 american express card, 10% macy's coupon, free buffet breakfast, late check out at 2pm and a $25 buckhead dining card. I wasn't to happy with the $25 dining card because you don't find out until after you book the room that in order to use the $25 dining card you have to spend at least $50. That defeats the point of having the $25 dining card if you have to spend a certain amount to use it. Overall the experience was nice, the dining card was the only issue.

This hotel sits in one of the impressionable financial districts in the Country, Buckhead, and does live up to expectations from the front desk to the room.
I also loved the fact that it offered a certain level of quite and peace that one needs at this level of panache and for an elite traveler.

I wanted to share the news of experiencing another wonderful weekend at the InterContinental! We did the typical Buckhead things but the bigger surprise was right in the hotel.

While I had some business on Saturday, my wife took advantage of the luxurious spa locating in the hotel. She said that her spa experience was the best in the Atlanta area. I have a feeling that we will be back and she will be at the spa.

So, if you are hesitant to travel with your loved one because you don't know how they will spend their day, don't give it another thought - just go to the InterContinental.

Beyond the spa, you will note that the staff is particularly friendly and helpful. They seem to be on a mission to make certain you enjoy yourself and to show-off where they work - and it shows!

The hotel itself is first-class; the rooms, dining and services are top-shelf. You can't go wrong at the InterContinental - give it try and you will be back for more!
