“Nice but needs improvements”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2006

Hotel is very nice and well appointed. My complaints are that the hot water in the room is not very hot regardless of how long it is left on. Also I was given a room near an ice machine closet and I could hear that door banged closed all night long. The front desk staff were not up to par with the level of service I expect from this type of hotel. Marta station is nearby but beware of major road/sidewalk construction on both sides of street. There is dirt and mud everywhere (if it is raining). Finally the beds and pillows are extremely soft - not good if you have neck or back problems.

This was great....we were greeted by happy, energetic people, breezed through the check-in and were in a wonderful room in minutes. The bathroom had a separate garden tub and beautiful shower.

The club level amenities were great...especially if you like sushi, but they turned the coffee machine off at night, and I did want some decaf.

I left the Ritz because it was just not good, and finished out my stay here....I'll not go back to the Ritz again.

A police convention was going on so the parking lot was FULLLLLL,, there was NOOOO place to park. I don't think they had rooms there either, they had just rented the ball room. I didn't think it was fair for the paying guests to have NO place to park but the hotel didn't seem to mind. The rooms were nice, room service was good, pool was nice, very beautiful. BUT.... my husband went to the bar area to order a drink, (he is hispanic) the lady was very rude and asked him if he was a guest at the hotel, he said yes he was. He told her he would like to pay for the drink cash instead of it going on the room bill. He had his drink paid cash for it, and felt very uncomfortable with the way this waitress was treating him. He left and when we checked out the drink was on our room bill!!!!! Now it was our word against the ladies that he paid for the drink with cash already. We couldn't believe a 5 star hotel would have servers like this!!!!! I get treated better then that at the Waffle House. Anyway, we explained what happened to the gentleman at the check out desk and he was very nice and seemed very concerned and surprised that one of their waitresses would do that. He got us to give him a description of her, and we left feeling like he would investigate it and confront this woman. Of course I don't know what ever came of it. Hummm

I live in GA, so every now and then I go on priceline and book a 4-star hotel room and stay in Atlanta for a night or two. Well, most of these I have stayed in (Hyatt, Hilton, Omni, Westin, Marriott Marquee, JW Marriott Buckhead, Grand Hyatt) have not really struck me as luxury hotels. I had begun to think I can't find such a hotel through priceline, till I got the Intercontinental.

I got a great view of busy peachtree street and an amazing room. The bathroom is heaven itself, with both a deep tub and a separate shower with glass door. You also get complimentary bathrobes. The room was clean and there was an evening service (with yet another nice chocolate) although when I checked in the ice bucket had water in. Still, the decor of both the hotel and room were amazing. The location is the best in buckhead--you can walk across the street to the MARTA station if you don't want to bother driving. Valet parking was fast and very pleasant, as was the check in staff. This is really the hotel to stay in Atlanta if you want to feel pampered

I stayed at the Intercontinental Buckhead for four days in September. The hotel is very nice, clean and fancy. The staff is very friendly and they want to help you. The guest rooms are the best part - pillow top beds that are like sleeping on a cloud. The bathroom is fabulous with a nice deep tub, marble everywhere, and a nice shower.

However, I was traveling for business. This hotel does not meet the needs of a business traveler. The do not offer free internet -it is $6/ hour to obtain a password and use their high speed internet. I was very disappointed with this.

Also, watch out for the mini bar. If you remove an item to look at it, it will automatically be charged to your room even if you did not consume the item.

This hotel is in a great location very close to the MARTA station. Buckhead is beautiful and it's easy to get downtown too. This is why I would only recommend the hotel for personal travelers who do not need business services such as internet. It might be a bit costly though. Not sure if it is worth the price unless you can get a room for a deeply discounted rate.

I stayed here for 5 nights over the Labor Day weekend and had a fantastic experience. The staff at the hotel is top-notch. Check-in was a breeze and there was no mention of Priceline nor do I feel I ended up in a Priceline room. Elevators are speedy and mirrored. The room was immaculate and the bathroom is the best feature (deep soaking tub with aerated faucets). The shower was nice as well, although there was some noticeable damage to the molding outside the shower door. Staff replenished the toiletries daily without my request even if I only used a little bit from the day before. Internet (wireless) is $10.95 here per 24hr use and I was unable to pick up any other signal so factor this in if you plan to use your PC. Pillowtop bedding was luxurious and housekeeping would even put ice in the canister everyday after they finished cleaning! The orchid and chocolate with the turndown service was a nice touch. I slept in late a few days and really appreciated housekeeping calling and asking if I would need service and at what time (kudos to hotel management for this). The room have doorbells, so that is yet another interesting feature. I did not dine, but you can sit outside and watch the traffic (and there is much) creep by on Peachtree. The parking valets will jump to you upon entry (can be a bit much) and are what you would expect at a luxury hotel. The staff would insist upon carrying my bags, no matter how light they were. I will gladly make the IC Buckhead my Atlanta choice hotel even on a non Priceline stay.

We booked our stay at the Intercontinental through Hotwire months ahead and received a fantastic rate. We received outstanding service from everyone, from the valet/bell staff to the front desk. The hotel is beautiful, located in upscale Buckhead. The bed was very comfortable and the tub in the bathroom was wonderful for long soaks after a day at Turner Field. The room mini-bar and room service prices were comparable to other upscale hotels we have visited. The turn down service with a fresh flower in addition to the obligatory chocolate mint was a lovely touch.
