Located across the street from the venerable Georgia Tech, the location and story behind this Atlanta tradition is as wonderful as the food. In 1925 Frank Gordy was told by the powers that be at Ga. Tech that he was "so dumb he couldn't run a hot dog stand". Frank Gordy's hot dog stand is the world's largest and no finer pedestrian chow is served anywhere. Whad'll ya have?
Be sure and make your choices before you get to the counter, as this place is throwing hot dogs down at the rate of tens of thousands per day. Presidents and royalty come here, and there is a reason ! The dogs and chili are not to be beat, the onion rings made on site are the world's best (though also possibly the greasiest), and you simply MUST try the in house made pimento cheese. Top it off with a "PC" (plain chocolate milk over ice...it cools the fire !) or a Frosted Orange.
Prices are family friendly,(as are the dining rooms...don't look for pristine !) Don't come for the ambience. Come for the food. Walk a dog, walk a dog !! Once I bought six dozen and froze them for later...they lasted less then two weeks...YUM !!
