“Show was great but people talk too much.”

I fully agree w the above comment from 12/22/12 that the crowd @ Chastain is very rude & noisy. I saw the Willie Nelson show in 2012, I THINK it was April, & have been to Chastain many, many times. It's a BEAUTIFUL amphitheater (I took my mom once & she thought it looked like the coliseum in Rome :)), but the noise ordinance in the wealthy neighborhood where the sound HAS to be lower & bands MUST stop playing at exactly 11:00 kinda sucks. I'll never forget seeing Peter Gabriel there years ago, & bc you can set up tables & bring wine & cheese & dinner, people chat as if they are at a restaurant. During Peter Gabriel, there was a group of girls behind us who talked VERY LOUDLY throughout the WHOLE show about work, guys, clothes...they should have gone to Happy Hour instead. The parking has gotten better. A few years ago we walked about 2 miles after parking for David Bowie. Good venue for a nice romantic dinner & show, but NOT good for your fave rock-n-roll band.

“An Atlanta Treasure!”

Great artists every summer, but the best part is the table set-ups. Nothing beats arriving early to spread your tablecloth, lay out the cheese and crackers and crack those bottles of wine and Champagne!

“A summer evening in the park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

During the summer nights, many concerts are given in this amphitheater.. Live music is played. You can book your spot, bring in foods and drinks and enjoy the music while eating and having fun with your best friends!

“Excellent venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

This is the best place to see a concert. Sound is great and there are no bad seats. I've been to many concerts and this is by far my favorite venue. Not too large. No rediculous long bathroom lines. Some shows you can bring a picnic basket/wine etc. Get a group table. Nearby hotels will drop off and pick up.

“Definitely avoid for the ASO symphony orchestra series”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Do not under any circumstances go to see any of the performances backed up ASO. Atlanta symphony Orchestra at Chastain.

Went to see Sting in this format and it was terrible. The crowds are completely boorish, loud, noisy, drunk, inconsiderate, not interested in the music; and the venue doesnt provide any crowd control of any kind so situation escalates on regular basis. Saw three different fights, beween what would otherwise have been assumed to be six different sophisticated ladies. They weren't. Not sure if this is the natural state of Buckhead inhabitants, so as a tourist from outside the perimeter I was just seeing the daily life of Buckheadonians? Or were these boors also all tourists from outside the perimeter?

With a serious effort by venue staff at controlling the crowd, making examples of a few obvious bad apples early in the night, this could be a great venue. But there is absolutely no crowd control so don't waste your time or your money on anything ASO related. You'll miss the music part of the evening, and the female wrestling matches that break out in the crowd are so few and far between, and dont last longer than 20 or 30 seconds each, so you can't justify the ticket price for that reason.

The place is good if you want to see a loud classic rock act. Have seen John Mayer, Peter Frampton, Doobie Brothers, Norah Jones all at Chastain.

Crowd noise could not drown out the highly amped music, great outdoor venue, bring your own food and booze, nice setting for atlanta summers as long as the evening is not in high 90's.

Unique one of a kind place, worth a visit if you are going to see one of the "loud" entertainers or shows.

You are literally throwing money away on the ASO series.
