Description: Celebrating over 18 year as one of Atlanta's favorite restaurants, South City Kitchen Midtown specializes in contemporary Southern cuisine with a sophisticated twist. Combining the energy of Atlanta with the warmth of a Southern home, the restaurant is nestled in an updated, historic bungalow on the city's famous Crescent Avenue. Dine on local Southern favorites such as shrimp and grits, buttermilk fried chicken, she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and banana pudding while enjoying the view of our exhibition kitchen or the city skyline on one of the best patios in the city. This truly is dining the way the new South intended.

Went in during the week for a business dinner. started off with the cornbread and biscuits. great indication that the chef understands flavor. had the chicken livers-Wow they were really good and packed a great flavor punch. the Pork Chop was equally as good. cooked just right, juicy and flavorful. The chef was off and the food was great, he or she has done a fine job. very friendly staff, nice décor, fast paced establishment. We'll be back!

Great menu! Sophisticated, southern. Great service and value. If sitting outside, mind the smell of the dumpster across the street.

This restaurant was so good that we ate there twice and were not disappointed either time. Recommended by our hotel receptionist we were delighted with the food, atmosphere, decor and staff. They serve top end 'Southern Food'. So you can still have your catfish and grits but it will be fantastically cooked and beautifully presented. It is not cheap but 'you get what you pay for' and this place is a gem. Ask to sit upstairs for great views of the neighborhood. You can't go wrong for lunch or dinner but do book as they get very busy - we did it by internet on the hotel w-fi.

Give this place a try. Very good.

We went to celebrate a friends birthday. Just a small group of six.

The staff were excellent.

The food was very good.

We had fried green tomatoes and crab cakes to start and they were both very good.

I had the pork chop and it was awesome. My wife had the fried chicken and said it was the best she had ever had.

We washed everything down with a bottle of Silver Oak Alexander Valley. Oh yes.

Definitely coming back.

3rd visit to South City, and it continues to impress. White tablecloths and super-sharp wait staff belies the casual comfort of this excellent eatery. Located in a restored home, the atmosphere is an outstanding mix of classic southern home and bright, sophisticated bistro, with an open kitchen as well as indoor and outdoor seating. While you will no doubt enjoy the setting, the food is the real attraction here. Chicken livers pan sautéed with onions, tasso ham, shoe peg corn and a terrific natural jus was a great starter. Crabcake Benedict w/Old Bay Hollandaise and Beef Brisket Benedict with Creole Mustard Hollandaise was mouth-watering, accompanied by Red Mule Grits and a side of perfect applewood-smoked bacon. Finished off with a pineapple upside-down cake sharing a plate with indescribable ambrosia ice cream left all completely satisfied and looking forward to visit #4.
