Description: Nino's, opened in 1968, has been owned and operated by Antonio Noviello since 1982. Originally from the Amalfi Coast of southern Italy, Antonio worked in Monte Carlo, then Bermuda where he met his wife Helen, an Atlanta resident. After moving to Atlanta in 1981, Antonio's life-long dream of owning his own restaurant became a reality when he purchased Nino's. For more than twenty years, Antonio has taken pride in serving authentic Italian Cuisine made with fresh, imported ingredients and cooked to order for each guest. His reputation for serving exceptional Italian cuisine has attracted devoted locals who return time and again, along with a long list of celebrities (see below) who had heard of Nino's reputation and stopped in to sample the fare. Many of the dishes on Nino's menu are original recipes brought from Italy by Antonio and his brother Giuseppe. Antonio invites you to relax and savor some of the great culinary treasures of Italy in a memorable dining experience.

“Wonderful Italian food!”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

Nino's is has a very quaint atmosphere and could be considered a very romantic place for dinner. The service was exceptional with someone who seemed to be assigned to just refilling water glasses and waiters with a good knowledge of the menu.

I had the shrimp pasta with a light cream sauce (I forgot the Italian name they called it on the menu) and my husband had the veal chop. This was probably the best shrimp pasta dish I've ever had and I eat shrimp often! He also thoroughly enjoyed his veal. The bread and fresh butter were delicious.....warm right out of the oven. I had a salad with a unique combination of ingredients as well that was fabulous. He had the mussels which I didn't care for, but I never have been a fan of mussels. He said they were good with a special broth.

I can't wait to return for another delicious meal!

“Great little neighborhood Italian place”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

We go to Nino's often. The service and food are always quite good. Veal parm for me and salmon for my wife- never disappoint. Very friendly folks, very old school decor.

“Real Italian Down South”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Although Atlanta has many, many "ethnic" restaurants, Nino's is one of the few truly authentic Italian restaurants I've found there. The parking lot is a little off=putting, but once you get inside the atmosphere charming, though simple. The food was excellent, a taste of home (Boston's Italian North End) for me. Good wine selection, too. And not overpriced. A real find.

“Nino's is a No No - Bland”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

We couldn't get into Alfredo’s just down the street (no reservations), so we decided to give Nino's a try…they also take reservations, but they managed to “fit us in”.

The Atmosphere:
Nino's has been around for many years and seems to be pretty popular judging from the parking lot…reservations are definitely recommended. They have both an indoor and an enclosed outdoor area. The indoor area seems way too crowded with tables. We sat in the outdoor area…much quieter and spacious. The outdoor area is nice, but there are some things they could do to make it nicer…like clean up the dirt planter along the wall…it’s just dirt, or do something with the fountain on that same wall. Parking can be a challenge…there’s a small lot on one side and a bigger lot on the other side; however, the bigger lot is not striped and the concrete is in very poor shape with drop offs – it’s probably just a vacant lot that happens to be next to Nino’s – so probably not much they can do about it.

The Food:
Calamari Fritti – Very tender/tasty (not chewy at all)…you could tell it was fresh. Lightly battered. The Marinara was good, but really didn't have enough of it.

Cesare Salad (this is how they spell it) – We only ordered one salad, but they were nice enough to put it on 2 separate plates. The salad was very lightly dressed…it was downright tasteless (a theme for the rest of the evening). It was pretty much like eating wet romaine lettuce. On the plus side, the lettuce was nicely chopped. The croutons were “break your teeth” hard.

Fettucine alla Michela (another misspelling on the menu?)– The shrimp and the scallops seemed to be fresh…but the scallops really needed a sear on them, they almost seemed steamed. The sauce was on the sweet side with very little flavor…almost like straight up cream. The fettuccine did not seem to be fresh and was almost chewy/gummy. Overall…not good.

Petti Di Pollo alla Alessandra – Chicken topped with a razor thin piece of eggplant with a, once again, tasteless/watery Marsala wine sauce. This came with a side of Spaghetti Bolognese. No surprise here that the sauce seemed worthy of a cafeteria…not an upper end Italian restaurant. It had a really strange flavor/spice.

The Service:
The service was OK…but not spectacular. Our server wasn't all that friendly (didn't even tell us about the specials that we heard him describe to other tables). When asked what he recommended, he didn't have a clear answer - just the standard "it depends on what you are hungry for". Overall, I would say it was efficient….but nothing memorable.

The Value:
Prices are in line with other upper-end Italian places…but with food this tasteless, not worthy of their prices.

The Conclusion:
This seems to be one of those places that skates by on its reputation and the fact that it’s been around for many years…so they don’t even try. Based on the crowds we usually see, I doubt this review will sway many people…but we will personally avoid this place.
NOTE: - a 2 "star" rating is a little harsh...but a 3 star would be waaaay to generous.
