Description: Downtown Atlanta's Oldest Southern Dining restaurant since 1967. We are a "Gone With the Wind" themed restaurant, a place where the characters presence are felt from the menu to the overall decor to the memorabilia on the walls. We have created a menu of Southern classics that have been enjoyed by groups large and small from the moment we opened our doors. Dishes such as, Aunt Pittypat's Fried Chicken, 12 Oaks BBQ Ribs, Georgia Catfish, just to name a few. Our menu also includes delicious appetizers and tempting desserts made fresh in our bakery daily. We have a full bar, plus draft beer by local breweries and a Specialty Drink menu to wet your whistle. So come on by and let us show you our Southern Hospitality!

I was attending a conference at the hotel across the street in May and one of the cab drivers we had raved about this place saying it was the best southern food in town. It's larger than it looks so we didn't need reservations. The place is decorated with sketches from the Gone with the Wind costume designer/movie. Our waitress was fantastic - friendly as always in Atlanta - and helped us out with the food. You get the salad bar and fresh biscuits/muffin/cornbread and a table size serving of blackened peas and collard greens as a part of the package. It is a lot of food! But totally delicious - you get what you order so don't expect the cheese grits to be low-cal!!

We took guests there two nights in a row because both sets wanted to go, they had heard of it. The first night we were anxious also, but found out it was really only so-so. Had the shrimp and grits the first night, which we normally love. The dish was bland, the shrimp were small, over-cooked and tough. The second night I ordered the fried chicken which the waitress told us they were known for. The platter was huge, and the chicken was moist, but pretty much tasteless. The large salad bar wasn't impressive either. The vegetarians in both groups were very disappointed with what the restaurant managed to serve up.

A co-worker and I had dinner at Pittypat's porch on our arrival from Asia for a work conference. We were both tired and happy to go somewhere just across the street from the Westin. We were quickly seated downstairs and quickly offered menus and drinks.

We had a starter of catfish fingers and I had fried chicken while my co-worker had the rib-eye steak. Both were quite good and served with collard greens and black eyed peas. They also gave us a bunch of breads for each of us (some cornbread, two kinds of biscuits and a sweet muffin) all were hot and tasty.

A nice taste of southern food served pleasantly and quickly.

The nicest feature was the piano player,he added a nice pleasantry to the evening. Our server, Eric, was a very nice young man which made up for his lack of experience. The menu is quite interesting and both of our entrees were enjoyable. If your staying downtown it is certainly worth a try.

The atmosphere was straight out of the novel and the food matched. Wonderful choices! I had ribs and fried chicken. The "salad" bar was wonderful and the hot bread basket, replete with biscuits and various breads, was mouth watering. Be sure to make a reservation!
