Attended a convention at the Marriott Marquis downtown; rave reviews by a colleague prompted a dinner visit. Party of three, no reservations required, dined right after sessions. Restaurant location easily found per directions from restaurant staff; underwhelming storefront appeal( expected a traditional front porch). Semblance to a porch inside. Attentive service, somewhat dim interior(dark wood panels), gave the impression of an old fashioned inn restaurant. More open, brighter surroundings would have been preferred. Food was average, fancy names on the menu but still stood for regular homecooked meals in the South. Had been warned about portions, especially the fried chicken. Sideboard salad offerings could have substituted for a meal. Collard greens & blackeyed peas side dishes, tasty. Good value for a meal.
