“Pleasant French Dining Experience”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Violette is unassuming in its grayish single story building. Service is friendly and the atmosphere not the least bit stuffy. There is live music some evenings; loud enough to inhibit conversation if that’s your desire.

There is a nice bar at the entrance and the adult beverages are well made. The food is well prepared and well presented. Not too fancy, reasonable portions and prices. I have enjoyed dining there on multiple occasions. The pate appetizer is a favorite and the trout entrée just right.

“Very good, very good.”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Violette seems a little out of the way even though it's right off Interstate 85 on Clairmont road just outside of downtown Atlanta. Tucked in an odd shaped building across the street from a McDonald's and a warehouse club, one wonders what it's doing here. Well, it's continuing to provide very good French cuisine to regulars and restaurant enthusiasts from all over.

The meny is a class French ensemble, including a Market Price cheese offering, assorted soups and salads, and then entrees that feature some of the better sauces in Atlanta. The puff pastry filled with chicken breast is good, but lacks lightness in the pastry, but flavor still abounds. Salmon with citrus sauce is pleasant and tangy, which is something different for the salmon lovers around town. You cannot go wrong with any of the beef offerings, but do choose your sauce wisely, as peppercorns can muscle their way into flavor interruption and not enhancement if you aren't careful.

Wine pairings are wonderful and the dessert menu, authentically French and well executed. I continue to maintain that dessert is not well done at many of the better Atlanta establishments, as it is almost always an expensive, poorly executed afterthought. Not here. Dessert offerings are not overly sweet, but light and tasty, and beautifully presented.

All in all, dining at Violette is a lovely experience, often enhanced by live music. It can get loud at lunch. I will say that in the evenings, the pace seems to slow, which is nice, and for a building that doesn't scream fine dining from the outside, they have nicely appointed the interior to give a laid back French bistro feel that is warm enough to enhance your dining experience. It is not the most intimate of places for a romantic meal, but is pleasant enough.

Offering very good cuisine at very good prices, Violette is a good value for foodies in Atlanta. You'll likely want to return to explore the menu, and the service is welcoming and unobtrusive. Very good, very good.

“A taste of Paris!”

Cute place to meet for lunch (though a little loud). I love the quiche lorraine and salad (but ask for dressing on the side, they go heavy). Good coffee, wonderful desserts, attentive staff.

“Quaint Establishment”

Had dinner here with a large party. The service was very good. Had the duck which was acceptable (not very flavorful). The portions were sizable, especially the desserts. Good neighborhood place in a nice setting.

“Dinner with friends”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

My wife and I met another couple for a Saturday night out. We enjoyed their wine selection. I like reds and usually can't find whites to my liking. Great selection of whites here. We tried the ST. VERNY "Le Chardonnay," AUVERGNE, France, and the K. LYNCH SAVARY, CHABLIS. Both were dry (preferred) but the second choice had more depth. They have a wonderful selection of salads, I had the beet salad, it was delicious. My salmon was tad overcooked, but the greenbeens with pesto were quite unique and delicious. Our waiter was attentive and fixed a couple of mistakes quickly. The atmosphere is bright, not that intimate and can be loud at time with voices. This is not my first trip here and I prefer visiting at times when the crowd is smaller.
