We made reservations at Eugene's primarily because it is owned by a nephew of one of my wife's
old friends & because it has a great reputation. No charge Valet parking; enthusiastic friendly
greeting; cell phone calls 24 hrs. prior to reservation; two different menus-one on left was ala carte; on right was sample tastings with good variety; cannot jump one to the other; waiter had to explain twice how to navigate. Very expensive, but outstanding service and the best broiled
grouper I ever tried, complete with red rock shrimp-also delicious.

This is consistently rated one of the best restaurants in the state, as well as the region. First understand it is pricey, however the meal, the service and the attention you receive is above comparison. Your table is truly booked for just you. It is yours for the evening. The menu is creative and extensive depending on your tastes. There are also wine pairings available to compliment each course. The chef provides little tastes" between courses. We last went on our anniversary and were very pleased with our evening. It helped mark our special day in a romantic and delicious way. The staff was nearby to serve and very professional, while also maintaining a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant Eugene is a perfect choice for a celebration or for spending a noteworthy evening. The award winning chef does not disappoint!

If you live in Atlanta and you haven't tried yet, go ahead and try, you will enjoy, a few restaurants in ATL can provide same quality ( maybe in the first 5 ). If I had to say any cons I would say that when the food is good you don't have to ask me 10 times , is good and period.

Dinner of 4 in special celebration with long time friends. Beautiful setting and exceptional service from start to finish.

Menu is certainly one of the more interesting found in the metro-Atlanta area. Essentially a tasting prepared by the chef with the expected seasonal and availability changes. Once we realized how substitutions could be handled the dinner was a true delight. This (substitution) wasn't immediately obvious until discussed with the server, the only weak spot in the experience (if there are/were any). A table of 4 was fine, but 6 or 8 might be even more enjoyable. While not essential, believe it safer to dress "up" than "down" in this quite fashionable spot. (it's not LA, but what the hell)

Most important comment of all; would be happy to return should the occasion or opportunity present itself.

Exquisite is the word I would use for the food at we enjoyed recently at Restaurant Eugene. The service was attentive and efficient without being rushed. This is fine dining, of Michelin star quality. I would rate Restaurant Eugene in the same league as our favorite two-star in France, where we spend several months a year – but the price at Restaurant Eugene is a lot lower. We had a special occasion to celebrate, with a bottle of wine we had cellared for 30 years. The sommelier lovingly coaxed out the cork and served the wine in big-bowl crystal glasses that let the aromas soar.

We chose the tasting menu, which lets Chef Linton Hopkins show his best efforts on a series of small courses. What stood out for me is the high quality of the main ingredients, be it a meat or a fish, simply but perfectly cooked, complemented on the plate by a sauces and vegetables that reinforce the basic ingredient. There were surprising approaches to the main ingredients: a fish portion cooked crusty on top and bottom, but just barely cooked inside. A preparation of duck confit seared to crisp on top and bottom, meltingly delicious inside. An elegant take on a “pot au feu,” usually a humble peasant stew in broth, but featuring veal – a portion of breast, plus a portion of sweetbreads, in an intense reduction broth.

Restaurant Eugene marries well-sourced local ingredients to international techniques, creating what one food reviewer referred to as “upscale down-home dishes.” It starts when you are seated and are greeted with an oval of soft freshly churned butter and a series of breads to accompany the courses. The chef even got poetic about butter in the restaurant’s blog: “sunlight transformed by the cow.” Between courses some off-menu surprises appear, such as a tiny macaroon with Southern-style peppery pimento-cheese inside. It’s an upscale touch using down-home ingredients.

Some say the restaurant is expensive, but we find the prices reasonable for such a fine dining experience.
