“Great Dinner!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Took my coworkers out to dinner here. Had a wonderful experience, food, wine and great service. Awesome prep in kitchen, looked great and tasted better. Hands down, new favorite restaurant in ATL.

“Underwhelmed”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Underwhelmed. The food was elegantly simple, but simply not memorable. Great wine list and mixologist.

But I hope for their sakes the service was off. We waited nearly 40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. The server's demeanor was brittle, forced and cold. The birthday girl asked for her meat well-done (I know it's a crime, but it's her birthday), and it came out rare. They ran out of items after we ordered and waited.

The check was delivered, later to be whisked away and returned with an extra $120 slapped on for gratuity for which she had forgotten to charge us. Oops. If you forget something like that, you should own it and hope the guests know how to tip like civilized folk! In fact, we would have tipped more. So much for that. And we never saw the tipping policy laid out for parties of 6. Perhaps we are blind or perhaps they presume.

And perhaps it is not cool to charge for a tip ON the tax. They don't get to take credit for the Georgia Department of Revenue in addition to dinner.

“Woodfire still leaves me cold.”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

We had not been to this restaurant since its make over and chef change. I never got the buzz pre-makeover. Still don't. The decor is greatly improved, location is still awful. The food is more interesting but continues to have as many misses as hits. The wine list is greatly improved with good selections from around the world. Prices on the food and the wine are very reasonable. The thing that just killed the evening was the pacing of the meal. Four of us ordered the 7 course chef's tasting menu--- something you would expect the kitchen to be prepared to roll out in an evenly paced fashion. We had 20 to 30 minutes between some courses and 15 between virtually all. Because the courses are typically small, as you would expect in a 7 course chef's tasting, the bite or two were gone in five minutes leading to a wait that exceeded consumption time by a factor of 4 or 5. We discussed this with the waitress and were told that they had a group of 20 on site. One would think that a group of 20 was not a surprise and the kitchen might have planned for it. While the food and wine met the grade, the experience was not great. Woodfire will not make our go to list and we will continue to wonder why anyone raves about this place. Perhaps it is the dining crowd that has been frequenting the Ruby Tuesday's in a mall. This place would not last 4 months in a real restaurant town.

“Bland and overpriced”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Our experience was much different from most of the other reviews. The meal would have been fine--good, not great--if we hadn't paid $100 per person. As it was, we found the sauces bland, and some of the courses, such as the pork belly, to be fine on presentation but lacking in taste. The salmon entree was good, but a very small portion for the price. The tenderloin steak was excellent, but that was the only standout. The deserts were a major disappointment--not enough of any one item for four people to taste, and nothing unique.
The service was excellent.

“Fabulous place!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

The food is great and so is the wine! I love the tea's as well. Not a place for children. You will need to reserve well in advance. The staff is attentive. It's a great place for a romantic dinner.
