“An expensive Chinese restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

An attempt at an upscale fusion chinese restaurant with a limited menu. The staff was nice and helpful. Being from NY with a choice of many chinese dishes I found the menu limited and expensive. The beef dish I had ( can't remember exactly now) had a little too much anise or five spice powder for my taste.

“good...but pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2012

the appetizers and one entre were got were small for the money you paid but they made up for it in flavor. However, paying in the range of 50 dollars for the limited amount of food is a worry. Still, the food had great flavor

“Downtown Atlanta KNOWS Chinese Perfection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

As one who eats Asian cuisine as a preference, I had to try Hsu's for dinner during a recent business trip. Hsu's was a great find and can't wait to go back.

We were seated promptly and although it appeared a little noisy upon entry, I assume it was only because the door is about 2 feet above the restaurant floor. Once at the table, noise level was quite tolerable from the many conversations.

Food was great. I usually try very specific dishes to judge, but went out on a limb to try some different items. I had never had hot and sour soup with anything but roast pork, and found their seafood hot and sour, absolutely exquisite. It had the traditional taste, but the shrimp and scallops give it just a wonderful hint of seafood that made it quite tasty and unique.

My entree was Shrimp in XO Sauce. I asked if it came with veggies and was told only asparagus. The waitress offered for an additional $2 to add mixed chinese veggies, which in my mind, made the dish perfect. The sauce was fabulous and at the end of the meal, couldn't figure out what else was making the flavors come together. The waitress explained that chinese sausage was the mystery ingredient.

Absolutely outstanding meal.

“Excellent Lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

Had the House Special Lomein for lunch. OMG, this was great! It had shrimp, scallops, chicken and soft egg noodles in a sauce that tasted sweet, yet sour, but was not a sweet and sour sauce. Gotta try it when you're in town.
