Another nice structure. The building features a beautiful golden dome which is the highlight of the capitol. the grounds are well maintained and feature a number of monuments and statues dedicated to important historical and/or political figures. The Jimmy Carter monument on the grounds is very well done with exception of the fact that the statue is the same size as the back drop so you cannot read the full text from the front of the statue. Another unique feature to this capitol is a number of histoical plaques marking critical aspects of Atlanta's involvement in the Civil War.

Interesting place. Everyone should see a state Capitol. It's free admission and it's part of everyone's history.

Few capitols shine as bright as Georgia's golden dome... the detail in architecture all around and inside the building is wonderful. What a grand ole building in a city that is overgrown with modernism and multiple vacant developments. Guard your treasure for generations to come.

Nothing very impressive about this building. It seems to represent and mirrors Georgia standing now and in the past. In all the displays, I did not see one true representation of the influence of slavery in Georgia, and how the state was built by the labor of slaves. There is no reference to the continued plight of black people in the state nor how difficult it is for them to pull most of them out of their lower status in the state.

We visited the State House on June 1st. There was no guide available the moment of our visit. The Senate and House were not in session so we could visit them. On the fourth floor there is a little museum about the history of the State House and the early days of Georgia. It is not the nicest State House we have seen.
