The house is gorgeous & authentically decorated. But what made it meaningful was the tour guide, playing the role of the architect, Phillip Shutze. He took us from top to bottom of the house & it made for an incredibly enjoyable event. Plan ahead and have lunch at the nearby Coach House Restaurant, just a short walk, and the original coach house for the property. There is also a fabulous gift shop.

I returned to the Swan House after 20 years to revisit the property - house, gardens and collections. Volunteers taking the role of the home owner and architect, from the 1930's greeted us and were there to answer questions, in character, enhancing the experience. The rooms unfold through the house with their charm and character, and the house is a reminder of when architecture, family history, collections of furnishings - all mattered in fine detail.

You can imagine our shock and delight when we met Mr. Shutze, the famous architect of the Swan House, while touring it! He introduced himself and proceeded to give us interesting facts and stories about him, Mrs. Inman, his collections, etc.! He was truly amazing! We will never forget the most intimate, realistic historical tour that we have ever had. We highly recommend a tour of the Swan House, and we hope you are as fortunate as we, and get to personally meet Philip Shutze!

Went on a free museum weekend thanks to Bank of America. A great place to spend the day. Museums are inside and out so you get to enjoy everything.

This was excellent. We went on a very quiet day but the guide, in the character of the architect, brought the place alive and gave us loads of social history information about Atlanta, which was very helpful as this is our first time to the south USA. A really lovely house too.
The homestead farm is also very interesting to see. And the museum contains lots of interesting artifacts about the civil war. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to view the Latino or indigenous exhibitions.
Give yourself the best part of half a day for this.
Good value for money.
